The Great Hall, House Points and the monthly House Point Competition

Chapter 7

Here comes the pointedly popular topic again- the house points.

All of us are familiar with where to look at the house points earned by each house for the annual Hogwarts House Cup trophy. Yes, of course, in 'The Great Hall' , which can be found by navigating 'Around the Castle' at Hogwarts, and also in another trendy place, read on.

Here's what we saw on our last visit to the Great Hall: -

The green house of cunning, Slytherin, seemed to be slithering slowest in the last position with 217,282 house points.

The red and always ready to fight house, Gryffindor, seemed to have landed smoothly in third position with 236,136 house points.

The yellow yellow, sweet and mellow house, Hufflepuff, seemed to have huffed and puffed to second position with 265,268 house points.

The blue house of true wit and wisdom, Ravenclaw, seemed to have flown to the top position with 331,263 house points.

For those who are wondering, the leaderboards ran out of enchantment but will be repaired soon.

However, statistics are different in the House Point Competition Group, which holds a monthly House Point Competition for all the students who like to keep track of their self-progress.

As usual, the competition was hosted by Professor Robert Plumb, Astronomy Professor at Hogwarts, and went on throughout the month of October. The competition was as popular as ever and the stakes were high with 7 participants battling for the winning positions.

On the 1st of November, 2023, the entries were evaluated and the competition was judged by Professor Robert Plumb. We witnessed the final countdown with 5 valid entries, 2 entries failing to make it into the ultimate judging of the competition due to having less than 30 house points.

The first position was taken by Hiya Debnath (2nd year witch, Astronomy PA) of Gryffindor house with 479 house points. The second position was taken by Martha Desurra (2nd year witch ) of Ravenclaw house with 402 house points. The third position was taken by Celestia Carrow (1st year witch) of Hufflepuff house with 335 house points. Spirits remained high and Professor Plumb awarded a gold medal to Hiya, a silver medal to Martha and a bronze medal to Celestia.

For the curious future contenders, while you can always just search for the House Point Competition Group among the 'Groups & Clubs' at Hogwarts, here's how to easily reach it: - https://www.hogwartsishere.com/groups/13729/

It's not late yet, as you can join at any time during the month. So, gear up and participate.
