Extendable Ears and Magical Eyes

Chapter 5

While Extendable Ears and Magical Eyes are not allowed at Hogwarts, it always helps to keep our eyes and ears open. The amazing batch of first year students have settled in and we hope they had a charmed first two months. Here are a few things dedicated to the new first year students to ensure nothing is missed.

Your Herbology professor, Professor Aspen, will have told you this, but if you missed it, a popular hangout of Hogwarts students is The Greenhouse, which witnesses many amazing stories played out by Hogwarts students during their practical Herbology groundwork. Remember to keep Professor Aspen's instructions in mind though. You can obviously search for the 'The Greenhouse' among the 'Groups & Clubs' to find it, but here is how to easily reach it: - https://www.hogwartsishere.com/groups/3549/

If you like to play out your own story in the way you want, the following popular social group meets in the 'The Great Hall' for amazing roleplay performances: - https://www.hogwartsishere.com/groups/216/

It can also be reached by simply looking for the group named 'The Great Hall' among the 'Groups & Clubs' .

Finally, if you are lost in the Hogwarts corridors, read on for a written version of a map of Hogwarts.

By opening the icon with the three lines located on the top, you have access to the following places at Hogwarts: -

  • The Newsroom- Here you can check out news and notices written by the Headmistress, Professors and the Administration of Hogwarts.

  • Hogwartle- It's the wizarding world version of the popular Muggle game Wordle. The game is played exactly like Wordle, and the same rules apply, but all the words are names, places or common words from the wizarding world that Muggles would not typically need to use in their daily lives.

  • Academics- This is where you'll find the classrooms to take your lessons in (under the heading 'My Classes') , the 'Course Catalog' in which you can look at the subject list for any year at Hogwarts and enroll in the classes you want to take and your 'Hogwarts Transcript' (available to yourself, the Professors and the administration) where you can see the total house points earned by you in each year and the assignments you have already submitted along with the grades and Assignment IDs. If you're still spooked about your studies and are haunted by anxiety or panic attacks, you can ghost out of this section and make your way to the next one, which is the Hogwarts Library, for some academic treats and a bunch of entertainment!

  • Hogwarts Library- The current Hogwarts Library is a vast, awe-inspiring treasure-trove of knowledge, advice and entertainment with informative textbooks, amazing reference books and study material, meticulous study notes, brilliant essays, magazines, newspapers, fascinating novels and a lot of other wonderful content (including this magazine) , written by the honourable Headmistress, Professors, students and staff (another chapter in this magazine solely dedicated to the library aims to provide help in navigating the library). It's divided into quite a few sub-sections. In the 'Browse the Library' sub-section, you can forage through the publications in the library. The 'Textbooks' sub-section is where you can go through the magnificent textbooks written by the respected Professors and the Headmistress. The 'Most Popular' sub-section is where you can check which content is most loved by the Hogwarts population. The 'My Bookshelf' sub-section is especially created for you, so you can save the books you want to read later. The 'Books I'm Writing' sub-section is where you can safely house incomplete or complete copies of your own valuable creations. Finally, the 'Write a Book' sub-section is where you can kickstart your future career as an author or begin to compile anything you'd like.

  • Around the Castle- These corridors lead to your 'Dormitory' to rest, chat and live in , 'The Great Hall' for your food (be sure to also keep an eye on the house points and get acquainted with your Head of House here) and the 'Groups & Clubs' you joined at Hogwarts for socialization, study or various other purposes. If you still seem lost, the next section will surely guide you.

  • More at HiH- Here you can check out the 'Who's Online?' sub-section to know who's traipsing around the castle for study, research, work, socializing or fun and available online on the Hogwarts social media platform "Hogwarts Is Here" . The 'HiH User Guide' is here to show your way through the castle and acquaint you with the castle's magic, layout and intricacies. Under the 'FAQ' sub-section, you will find ready-made answers to questions frequently asked by students and the 'Code of Conduct' sub-section will keep you informed about the basic rules and regulations for living in the castle.

  • Volunteer- This place is where Professor Applications (under 'Professor Applications')are filled out in case of vacancies. If you are a student and want to give your beloved school something in return, this is the place to fill out Professor Assistant Applications (under 'PA Applications')if they are available, and lastly, the 'Donate' sub-section is where you can donate to Hogwarts.

The bar on top shows a magnifying glass which can help you search for whatever or whoever you are looking for, the envelope-shaped icon which is basically where you can write, send and recieve owls from others, and the bell-shaped icon where you'll recieve important notifications like your grades. Lastly, the circular icon showing yourself whisks you away to the personal aspects of your own life at Hogwarts.

Last of all, but never the least, if there's anything else you are still bothered about, especially academics, you can always reach out to the respected Headmistress, Professors and the Professor Assistants, who will guide you appropriately as required.
