Celestial Events By Celestia - Editor's Special

Chapter 14

Have you ever found yourself gazing up at the night sky, captivated by the celestial ballet unfolding above? In our magazine's pages, we're introducing a permanent feature that will take you on an enchanting journey through the deepest cosmos.

Welcome to our new feature: "Celestia’s Celestial Events". Each month, we'll be your guide to the most extraordinary events in the night sky, offering you a preview of the cosmic wonders that await. From meteor showers that paint the heavens with streaks of light to the dance of planets in perfect celestial harmony, we'll unravel the mysteries of the universe for you.

October, was the month of transition and changes in both hemispheres.

Different parts of the world were gradually changing seasons. Like you may know, in the Northern Hemisphere, comes fall and then winter and conversely, in the Southern Hemisphere comes spring and then summer. So light is decreasing in some parts of the world while increasing in others.

This was the second-to-last month in which you could’ve caught a glimpse of the Galactic Center of the Milky Way above the horizon. When the season is over, you'll have to wait 2-3 months before you can see it again.

Most significant events in October 2023 included:

✧ The Annular Solar Eclipse on October 14

→ This phenomenon occurs when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun

✧ The Orionids Meteor Shower on the night of October 21-22

→ It was remarkably visible and intense in both hemispheres

✧ October 28 was particularly exciting, not only was there a Partial Lunar Eclipse, but it was also a Full Moon night! I hope all Werewolves among you were careful, especially because Jupiter was particularly bright and dangerously close to the glowing Moon!

→ A Partial Lunar Eclipse occurs when the Earth passes between the Sun and the Moon

Throughout the spooky month, the intense Jupiter was also joined by the super bright presence of Venus. So, has last month been an emotional rollercoaster? This might be due to Venus. Meanwhile, Saturn, with its enchanting yellowish hue, graced the evening sky, offering a captivating backdrop for stargazers everywhere.

Important celestial events for this month will include:

✧ On November 3, Jupiter will be at opposition! This means, with its face completely illuminated by the Sun, it will be the biggest and brightest view of Jupiter you’ll get to see all year long!

✧ On November 13, the same phenomenon will occur with Uranus

✧ Also on November 13, the New Moon week is your last chance to capture the Galactic Center of the Milky Way shining in the sky in 2023

✧ The Leonids Meteor Shower is set to grace the night skies on November 17-18

And of course, for our dear Werewolf readers, the next Full Moon will be on November 27 so make sure you restock your Wolfsbane.

And what is this? An incoming comet? But don't worry; even though this comet is called the "Devil's Comet" and is the size of Mount Everest, there's nothing to worry about. Although the comet is actually equipped with two horns, of which astronomers aren't exactly sure how they came to be, the comet will never collide with Earth.

Pay attention! Communication may be a bit strained this month due to Uranus’ influence. Take extra care in your conversations to avoid misunderstandings. Since Jupiter is in strong position this month too, channel your unstoppable self-focused energy to workouts and physical activities for most optimal results.

Stay tuned and make sure to check out the next issue for more ‘Celestia’s Celestial Events’ to remind you of the mysteries of the cosmos.
