(Older Student) I solemnly swear that I'm up to nothing but good -- but being a Slytherin means that no one really wants to believe that claim. Granted, the Second Wizarding War was only about twenty years ago, so the repercussions and fall out of it all is still fresh in people's minds. Former Hogwarts students who were here during that time have surely spread their prejudices through to their children. Unfortunately, in the years that have passed, it's like Slytherin house has been divided into factions: progressive Slytherins -- like myself -- who just want to work toward unifying the houses and making sure those atrocities never happen again, extreme Slytherins who feel that You-Know-Who was completely justified and want to be even more divisive, and moderate Slytherins who are staying out of it. As a Muggleborn, though, my family has no real investment in the events of the late 90s, but as a budding magical historian, it's my duty to wade through all of the murky past so that we don't ever make these mistakes ever again. I just hope that people take me seriously enough to realize that I'm working for the good of all humankind -- magical or not.
