Woods (A, B, C)
Chapter 3
Arcadia
Arcadia is an unusual wand wood that has commonly been noted for its refusal to perform magic for anyone except its owner. This usually causes them to be difficult to place, but when matched right, they produce a similar power to any other wand wood. Arcadia is also an attractive deep brown colour.
Alder
Alder is an unyielding wood, yet its ideal owner is not stubborn, but helpful. This is unusual, due to the fact that it desires a partner that has a near opposite personality of its own. Alder is also best suited for Non-verbal spells. Alder bears some resemblance to birch, with its almost white when freshly cut, although it quickly changes with exposure to air, becoming light brown with a yellow or reddish tinge. Through the use of certain charms, the white colour can be preserved.
Apple
Apple is powerful in the hands of an owner with high aims, and it poorly mixes with Dark Magic. The owners of Applewood wands often have the ability to converse with magical beings in their native language. The colour of this wood can vary from a light reddish or greyish brown to a deeper red/brown, depending on the nature of the tree.
Ash
Ash wands are attached to only a single wizard, and being passed on and gifted will cause it to lose power. The wizards and witches that Ash selects are usually stubborn, and near unswayable from their beliefs, however, those that are overconfident will not be chosen. The owner of ash is stubborn, but not arrogant. This wood usually has a beige-to-light-brown hue, but the colour does vary slightly.
Aspen
Aspen wood is prized by many wand-makers for its beautiful colour. It has a strong suit in charms and it usually selects an accomplished duelist. Witches and Wizards with wands made of this wood are generally strong-minded, usually taking up the role of a revolutionary. Aspen wood features shades of white, blond and light brown and It commonly resembles Ivory.
Beech
A Beech wand chooses those who are young and wise, or old and experienced. These wands perform weakly in the hands of a small-minded individual, although when properly matched they are capable of artistry unlike those of other wood. Beechwood has a reddish-brown colour that gives it a lustrous reputation.
Blackthorn
Blackthorn is best suited to a warrior. It isn't specifically for Dark arts, but it will work well with such magic. Blackthorns are popular among Aurors and guards of Azkaban. The wands from this wood, like the bush they are from, need to pass through danger and hardship for the wand to be at full strength. This wood was usually a light yellow with a brown heartwood.
Black Walnut
Black Walnut seeks a master of insight and instinct. It is attuned to inner conflict, and it loses power when its wielder deceives themselves. If it is paired with a self-aware owner, however, it becomes loyal and impressive, talented with charms. It can range from a lighter pale brown to a dark chocolate brown with darker brown streaks. Colour can sometimes have a grey, purple, or reddish cast.
Cedar
Cedar wand wielders usually have an undying loyalty. Cedar owners tend to be perceptive, and can even be talented and fearsome adversaries. Cedar commonly has a pinkish-red colour, though it can have some purple tones as well.
Cherry
Cherry wood is a very rare and coveted wand. It is common among the Japanese students of Mahoutokoro, usually having a certain prestige. Cherry wands also produce a power that is nothing to scoff at. Cherry wood may vary from light pink to light pinkish brown or colour with deeper red tones.
Chestnut
Chestnut vary greatly in nature depending on many aspects, including the core. These wands favour tamers with magical beasts, Herbologists, and flight, but when paired with a Dragon Heartstring, it will favour those that are fond of luxury. Chestnut produces light to medium brown wood which develops a reddish hue as it ages. The sapwood, or outermost part, can also be light brown or may appear as a pale white colour.
Cypress
Cypress is another wand wood that is favoured by the nobility. The owners of a Cypress wand will almost always die a heroic and noble death, although in more peaceful times, the owners of Cypress wands rarely need to lay down their lives, but they would gladly do so. The owners of Cypress are commonly brave, bold, and self-sacrificing. Colour tends to be a light, yellowish brown, although it can be nearly white. It can also have scattered pockets of darker wood, although this isn't as common among stronger woods.
