Backstory
Claire Tyrell | First Year | Hufflepuff
When the Sorting Hat was placed on my head, it didn't take long at all. Within seconds, it called out Hufflepuff, and honestly, I couldn't have felt more relieved. I've always been the kind of person who values fairness and works hard at everything I do, so it felt like coming home. The common room is cozy and warm, and I couldn't imagine being anywhere else.
Being Muggleborn, magic was never part of my world growing up. I had strange things happen around me from time to time, books flying off shelves when I was frustrated, lights flickering when I was excited, but nothing that prepared me for the letter that arrived on my eleventh birthday. My parents were equal parts shocked and proud, and while adjusting to the wizarding world has been a lot to take in, I've loved every moment of discovering it. Diagon Alley alone nearly overwhelmed me, in the best possible way.
As a Muggleborn, I find myself endlessly eager to soak up everything the wizarding world has to offer. The History of Magic excites me most. Growing up without any knowledge of this world means there is an entire history I never knew existed, and I want to learn it all. I'm also fascinated by Herbology and Astronomy, and equally curious about Defense Against the Dark Arts and Flying. Honestly, it's hard to pick just one, every class feels like opening a door to something completely new!
My greatest strength is my curiosity, I ask a lot of questions, sometimes too many. My greatest weakness is probably that same curiosity, because it occasionally leads me somewhere I probably shouldn't go.
After Hogwarts, I'd love to work in magical research, possibly in astronomical magic. The idea that someone like Dr. Mansour could change the entire wizarding world through careful observation and sheer determination is deeply inspiring to me. I want to discover something that matters.
As for pets, I have a calico cat named Mittens, who is equal parts adorable and trouble. She has a habit of sitting directly on top of whatever I'm trying to study, apparently convinced that my notes are the most comfortable spot in the dormitory.
