As a muggle-born, I had no idea the strange happenings in my presence were the makings of a witch. My brother and sister always blamed me for things going wrong in my house, even though only about half of them were my fault. When I received my Hogwarts letter I believed it to be a joke- a slightly more elaborate prank than my sister's usual not-very-thought-through practical jokes, although there's nothing practical about putting a jelly slug underneath my pillow. I'm not sure is my sister is a witch, as she's only six so she has two more years to display witch like characteristics. My brother is sixteen, so he's definitely not a wizard, just and average muggle, although perhaps an abnormally annoying one.
As a muggle-born, a wizard was sent to my home to explain to my parents what I was and am and all about the Wizarding school of Hogwarts- while I listened at the door ( later I was called into the room ). My parents weren't sure about having a witch in the family, but after reading a few of my textbooks for the new school year they saw sense and realised how beneficial it would be!
