Background: 

Golden trio era: Their mother died the year before they went to Hogwarts. This was due to Pandora always experimenting with dangerous spells, on Fey. The spell that killed Pandora was meant to kill Fey, but it backfired. Fey thinks this is because Pandora didn't mean it for 100%. Luna was unaware of their abuse, and Fey's father looked the other way. After Pandora died, Xenophilius slowly became more and more crazy, blaming Fey. He wanted to find out how Pandora's torture spells worked, but couldn't find the journal she kept. Fey took it with them and hid it, but then Xenophilius decided he needed a testing subject, which was Fey. With more scars after every summer from the 'punishment' as Xenophilius called it, eventually, after their 3rd year, he was locked away in Azkaban, but not before the damage was done. He required them to be perfect in school, which they were even after he went to Azkaban, never getting less than a 100. First out of fear, then as a cover up for the secret they needed to keep, as they and Luna were living with one of the sisters of Pandora, Narcissa Malfoy, they got into some death eater business with a certain dark lord who returned the next year.

Marauders era: With the wizarding world under a regime of pureblood supremacy, and two parents both bloodtraitors, they grew up very sheltered and 'protected'. When they turned eleven and got their letter, it was a long discussion, but they were allowed to got to Hogwarts, under the condition they would perform. Going to Hogwarts, there was a lot of pressure of getting into Ravenclaw, as a Lovegood is supposed to do. With their brother being a year older, he watched over Fey, making sure they did like their parents said. They did, finishing homework before anyone else, taking every class, every curricular class their parents told them to take, finishing tests, exams and assignments never with less than a 100. Their friends were not exactly to their parents standards, but their friends did make them realise how much they didn't share their parents beliefs. When they finished their N.E.W.T.'s, they went back home one last time, and may or may not have killed their parents. Then they joined the dark lord, and were trained by Bellatrix Lestrange, Lucius Malfoy and Voldemort himself after seeing their potential.
