Backstory: Whilst the sorting hat did take 7 minutes debating the merit of putting Kalliope into Slytherin or Ravenclaw, her love of hording knowledge won out and she is quite happy to be counted amongst the eagles.  Regardless of the fact that she may be at a disadvantage being muggle-raised, she is quite adept at overcoming the obstacles the magical world will no doubt throw her way — given enough information and preparatory time before, of course.  After Hogwarts, it is Kalliope's hope to traverse the expanding field of Alchemy.  She does find all her magic classes fascinating, but it is alchemy that she find the most worthwhile of subjects.  Despite finding joy in sharing what she has learned, Kalliope tends to withhold some secrets for her own advancement.  There is a reason, after all, that the aphorism goes "Scientia potestas est."  Knowledge is power.
