Lesson 7) Categories of Spells
Chapter 7
Spell Categorization:
-2 categories are static and dynamic
-Decided at a Spellwork Convention in 2016
-Now we will have the spell blocks listed with its category.
Static Spells:
-Easiest spell, all you have to do is say the incantation and it worked
-Wand-lighting charm, Lumos, is a good example
-Have no influence over the target after you are done casting
-No prolonged concentration
Dynamic Spells:
-You have to think about what you are doing.
-Require more thought and concentration.
-Some spells are in both categories, like the Fire-Making Spell.
The Severing Charm:
Incantation: Diffindo (deef-IN-doe)
Wand Movement: V-Shaped down and up, ending with a swish in the direction to cut.
Willpower: Low
Concentration: Moderate; The place to cut and depth of the slice
Category: Dynamic
-Made by a seamstress in the 1400’s called Delfina Crimp
-If you don’t cast the spell correctly, then the backfires are that nothing happens or that the item will only partially cut.
-You might also cut something that you didn’t want to cut.
-Does not affect actual people and animals, they might get a small paper cut.
The Softening Charm:
Incantation: Spongify (SPUHN-jee-fye)
Wand Movement: S-Shape
Willpower: Moderate
Concentration: Moderate;The target object
Category: Static
-Makes it squishy and bouncy but not soft
-Like consistency of a rubber ball
-Backfires usually occur in nothing happening, or the object will not become bouncy or will lose its bounciness very quickly.
-You cannot use this on living matter. Their nails or fur MIGHT become a little bit softer for a short time.
-Metal and stone usually do not absorb this magic.
