Lesson 5) The Importance of Concentration

Chapter 5
Concentration:
-The act of centering your mind on the spell, and centering the spell's effects on your target.
-You don't need concentration for every spell, like for the Wand-lighting spell you do not.
-Without concentration, you might not cast the spell on the target that you want.
-Hardest part of concentration is that your mind has to be decently clear when you are using it to cast a spell.
-Good way to practice focusing is meditation
-Concentration could also be visualizing something, or sometimes you have to feel some thoughts and emotions.

Spell Modifiers:
-A modifier is a short word or phrase to minimally change or add to the spell.
-Example: The Locomotion Charm can be modified by including the name of the target.
-The Sunlight Charm and the Dancing Lights Charm are both modifications of the Wand-Lighting Charm.

The Sunlight Charm:
Incantation: Lumos Solem (‘LOO-mos so-LEM’)
Wand Movement: Single counter-clockwise loop ending with the wand pointed toward the target.
Willpower: Low to very high; determines color and intensity of light.
Concentration: High; the target of the light.

The Dancing Lights Charm:
Incantation: Lumos Numerosa (‘LOO-mos Noom-air-O-sa’)
Wand Movement: Single counter-clockwise loop, then several rapid counter-clockwise loops.
Willpower: None
Concentration: High; concentration should be maintained on all the orbs, and determines how many can be created.
