The Mysterious History Of The Necklace

Chapter 9
04/09/2018

Dear Diary,
If you can remember, yesterday I visited Enochia's Cottage. Apparently, She knew about my "legendary" necklace. And today I uncovered something I never would have thought to see...

The day didn't start out like every other day, mainly because today was my first day in my wizarding lessons! There are 7 main lessons you have to take, but I desperately wanted to try out Magical Cookery. Magical Cookery, is a lesson I think of as fun. Obviously, lessons should be exciting but after today I found out they were all quite boring. As soon as I woke up, I leaned towards my necklace- after yesterday, I wasn't letting my necklace out of my sight! Carefully, I grabbed my necklace and stared deeply into the beautiful, glistening crystals...wandering what mystery's it was hiding. "I understand your special, and granted a young girls wish thousands of years ago...but any magical thing could do that, so what makes you so legendary?" I Mumbled to the necklace, confused of its "wonderful" powers.
"It's Thursday!" Shrieked a girl from the opposite side of the Dorm, "I haven't read any of my text books!"
"We were supposed to read? What if I get expelled for not reading!" Shouted another Girl. Everybody started screaming, terrified that they hadn't read enough, that they'd get expelled, and more crazy theories. But me, I just grabbed my necklace and left. Even if I hadn't studied enough, if I hadn't made many friends, I knew that if I tried hard enough...somehow I'd succeed. "Jasmine, Hey!"
"Huh, oh Ryland!" I said eagerly, while hugging him,"I've not had a chance to talk to you lately!"
"Yeah I know, I've been studying and you've been...well I don't actually know, but I bet you had important stuff to do." Replied Ryland. I nodded and excitedly told Ryland all about my necklace! "Wow that's amazing, so have you actually experienced any of its powers?" Ryland asked.
"Well...no, but I'm sure I can get the necklace to show its powers today!" Ryland shook his head, reminding me that we had lessons all day. Even if we had lessons, I was determined to discover the powers of my necklace. "Well I've got to go. Oh and get changed into your robes Jasmine, you don't want to give a bad impression on your first day of lessons." Ryland waved and left the Common Room. I scrambled into my dorm, remembering I had a princess onesie on...how embarrassing. After putting on my robes, I set off to the library. The library always has information, even if it means you have to get into the restricted section. I wanted to go to the library to learn more about my "legendary" necklace, but because of the time I spent getting dressed I didn't have much time to search the library, but I spent it wisely. The first book I read was just about what "legendary object" actually means-it wasn't that helpful- but the second book had more information about legends and myths of the wizarding world. The second book still wasn't about my necklace, but the third book was mainly based on mythical accessory's, and luckily it had one about a necklace...my necklace! By the time I had finally found the book I was looking for, I had to head to the Great Hall. I desperately wanted to know about my necklace and discover more books with more information, but I also wanted to be energized and study for my first "real" day at Hogwarts! In the end, I decided to borrow some books and read up on them another day.

When I arrived in the Great Hall, Professor McGonagall had just finished a speech, "And I hope all the first years have a wonderful year at Hogwarts!" I rushed over to the Ravenclaw table and started my breakfast.
"Did I miss anything important?" I asked Ryland while finishing my third sausage-even though I had just started eating.
"Not really, Professor McGonagall was just welcoming the first years and telling us how if we try hard, we'll always succeed. The only exciting thing was one of the House Ghosts flew through McGonagall!" Ryland explained.
"Well I'm glad I missed that!" I said cheerfully, and continued my feast- well it was actually just some sausages and some eggs, but I suppose you could call it a feast. Eventually, I finished my breakfast and used my spare time to read up on my upcoming lesson, Charms. Ever since I was young I've always been fascinated by Charms, and today I finally was able to experience Charms for myself! About 10 minutes later, Charms class finally started, I was full of joy and excitement ready to learn something new! I had always been top of my class in the 'Junior Wizarding and Witchcraft School', but Hogwarts challenged me much more than expected. In my first Charms lesson we learnt about the history of Charms and Wands, but we also learnt 2 charms. The charms were the 'Wand Extinguishing Charm' and the 'Wand Lighting Charm.' The names are quite self explanatory but I'm still going to explain what they do. The wand lighting charm, lights the tip of your wand and all you have to say is Lumos!(LOO-mos.) The wand extinguishing charm does exactly what you'd expect, extinguishes the light on the tip of your wand and you cast the charm with a simple flick of the wand! I enjoyed Charms very much! I'm actually quite happy Charms was fun because the other lessons definitely were not. Charms was the only lesson we actually learnt something other than the history of the lesson! Magical Cookery, was exciting and fun, but once again we just learnt about the history of cookery and not cookery itself. After I had finished my lessons, I decided to head to the library to search more about my necklace. In the book I had previously borrowed, it had just repeated the story of the legendary charm, so I had to try and find some more books. After about an hour I finally found a book, it was covered in dust and had been slotted under a bookshelf. As I opened the book, I saw a name. Now this name was one every Witch or Wizard in the world would know of, one many are afraid to say. If you haven't figured out who's name it was already, then it was Lord Voldemorts name. On the very first page, in large letters read Lord Voldemort is my future. Underneath read, Lord Voldemort is my present, and underneath that read Lord Voldemort is my past. Obviously this had been read by Tom Riddle (Voldemort) but why would he want to read about a little girls unicorn necklace?

So as you can see, today was exciting yet mysterious and especially learning about Lord Voldemort wanting to know about my necklace! Hopefully, this was just a misunderstanding, because if there's something to with Voldemort and my necklace...I really don't want to know about it!
