The Diary Of A First Year Ravenclaw

And you just can't seem to understand any lessons.Well In this Diary you read about my experience as a first year Ravenclaw, starting from the day I received my letter, to my final day as a first year Hogwarts student!

My Vist To Diagon Alley!
Chapter 3

Hey Diary,
So today was probably the most exciting day in my life. I went to Diagon Alley! If you remember, yesterday I finally received my letter to Hogwarts! On that letter, it had a list of things I needed to bring to Hogwarts. They were:
Uniform,
•my robes( plain black)
•a pointed hat
• one pair of protective gloves
•A winter cloak
•a name tag for my uniform
•Books( one for every class)
Other Equipment,
•1 wand
•1 Cauldron
•1 set of glass or crystal phials
•1 set of brass scales
•An animal- Owl, Cat or toad
There was a lot of things to buy, I wasn't surprised though,my brothers needed to take more when they were in their first year, so it was actually quite relieving I didn't need as much! We all woke up at exactly 07:00- We all decided to sleep in later than usual, so we weren't tired for shopping at Diagon Alley.As soon as I woke up I checked the date, hoping it would be the day I left for Hogwarts...It wasnt. Instead I rolled out of bed, dissapointed I had to wait 1 month to go to Hogwarts. My dad knocked on the door- probably because I was sat slouched on the floor, with a miserable face- "why are you looking so upset, you get to go shopping at Diagon Alley!" He asked
"It's just, I wanted to go to Hogwarts today!"I moaned. He walked over and sat next to me, "Just because you can't go to Hogwarts today, doesn't mean you can't have a good time!" He said reassuringly. I smiled weakly and gave him a hug. He told me my breakfast would be ready soon , so I stood up and grabbed my clothes. He left the room with a big smile on his face- it was quite a strange smile actually, almost like he had tried to trick me! After getting dressed I ate my breakfast, It was a special meal that was only made for important or exciting moments!" We have a little surprise for you today Jasmine!" My mother said
" If you're talking about going to Diagon Alley, I alread know!" I replied
" No not that, I would love to tell you...but I can't, It wouldn't be a surprise if I told you, would it!" My mother knew I HATED surprises, yet she still told me about one? The surprise was bugging me ALL day. But as the time got closer and closer to us going to Diagon Alley, I started forgetting about the surprise! I practiced fake spells I had seen in movies, while waiting to go to Diagon Alley. We were going to travel by flu powder, flu powder was my favourite way to travel! It was 13:45, (1:45pm) just as we were getting ready to leave. My brothers went first travelling with the flu powder. They stepped in, dropped the powder and clearly said 'Diagon Alley.' I went next, strangely I was extremely nervous-I had been excited all day, but now the excitement was wearing off. I carefully stepped inside, grabbed the powder, and said " Diagon Alley!" Green smoke swirled around me, I saw strange random faces before eventually arriving in Diagon Alley. My brothers were already walking away, looking for a bookshop. I stood outside the tube, waiting for my parents to come through. Eventually they arrived-my mother first and my father next. My father said he needed to talk to my brothers and went off searching, while my mother and me set off to Gringotts. My mother said she had two surprises for me, the first one I was going to get at Gringotts.I was confused at first until she said to the goblins " We would like to see Vault, 534 please!"
"My parents and my brothers vaults weren't 534, who's vault is that?"I thought
"Are You excited to see your New VAULT!" My mum asked me eagerly
"My Vault? Is this the surprise! I'm getting my own Vault?" I asked excitedly. My mother nodded her head. My brothers had only recently been given their Vault's, and they're in their 4th Year! I felt so appreciated. It took about 3 minutes to get to my vault, when we did my mother gave me the key and I gave it to the goblin. Gently and elegantly the goblin opened my vault. I was flabbergasted over how beautiful it was. The room was half filled already! My mother gave me a small purse with a fairy printed on it. I thanked her and walked into MY Vault! I filled my purse to the brim and then skipped out, full of joy and happiness!
We left Gringotts and met up with my father and brother's! They were standing in a long queue outside of a robe shop. All students always go to the robe shop first, they find it easiest. Instead I chose to go to Ollivanders! I thought it would be the best place to start out... and I also didn't want to wait in an hour long queue! It was empty, as usual. I called for Ollivander and he slid on a ladder, climbed down and said hello. I introduced myself and shook his hand. "Oh so you're the famous daughter of Luna Lovegood and Rolf Scamander, I should have been able to tell by your mother there!" Ollivander said kindly. I answered with a mumbled yes and he then said, " So it's your first year? You've come for your wand! Remember the wand chooses the wizard!" He told me to hold out my hand and 5 wands should come floating towards me, Ollivander said I then need to try ALL, the wands that appear in front of me. "The wand that glows once you use it , is your chosen wand!" Ollivander told me. Strangely 6 wands came to me, the first shot a ball of fire out of the tip, the second shot me into a wall of wands, the third did spells out of the bottom of the wand, the fourth wand nearly KILLED Ollivander, the fifth wand blew up in my hand and the sixth wand...threw itself across the room! I had NO wand! None of the wands chose me...until I sat on a chair and sobbed! A wand from the back of the shop slowly floated towards me, I looked up when it tapped me on the head, I grabbed the wand and wiggled it slowly! It glowed brighter and brighter as I moved it in the air!"Finally my wand! The wand does choose the wizard!" I exclaimed. I thanked Ollivander and we left the shop! My wand was made of Vine Wood with Unicorn hair and was slightly flexible, It was also 12 inches! Me and my mother then went to the pet shop," Now were at your second surprise!" Exclaimed my mother
"How can this be my second surprise?Every student has to get a pet!"I asked
"Well...Me and your father are so proud you got into Hogwarts we thought, we'd give you not only a cat but your own OWL!"
"My own OWL! But Your only allowed 1 pet?"I replied
" Well your headmaster has made an exception and said, if a student does not have an owl as their pet, they can bring an owl to send letters!"
"Really! Yay!"
I was extremely grateful and I am so happy to be a Lovegood Scamander! I went into the shop already knowing what owl and cat I would be getting, I chose a Siamese Cat and named him socks because of his grey paws, and he always bit my socks! The owl I chose was a Southern White-Faced Owl, which I named Elthia! We once again met up with my father and brother's outside the book shop. While we were getting my wand and pets,my father and brother's had bought new uniform and extra accessories . They also had bought every book we needed at Hogwarts! I took my uniform, books and the other things my father bought and put them in my bag! We went back to the tube and used the flu powder to return home!
That's all I did today, I probably won't write anything until I leave for Hogwarts, So see you then!
