The School Caretaker

Chapter 10

Dear Diary,
As you should know, yesterday I found something in a book I would never had expected to find. Lord Voldemorts name was written on the first page! Well today I tried to figure out why Voldemorts name was in the book. Obviously, Voldemort is dead, he died years ago-I'm sure I don't need to tell the story- but not every secret about Voldemort was uncovered while Harry Potter was at school, so I decided to try and uncover some of Voldemorts untold secrets.Well today I uncovered something shocking! But as usual, it didn't go to plan- that can be good sometimes...right?

Last night, I couldn't sleep at all. I was just so uneasy about knowing Voldemorts name was in a book right next to me. I had borrowed the book from the library, not knowing how uncomfortable it made me to be around it. At times I thought Voldemort would come to life out of the book and the story of Harry Potter would happen all over again...but with a more gruesome ending. But as all these crazy ideas swirled around in my head, I eventually fell asleep. When I woke up, Ryland was staring at me worryingly- as if something horrible happened. "Merlin's Beard, you're ok!" Sighed Ryland, " I'm so happy. Oh but your heating up, let me get you some water!"
"What? What do you mean ok? I was sleeping and all I did was wake up!" I asked urgently.
"Oh, you really don't remember? Last night you were sweating and screaming in your sleep, the girls from your dorm called me and I've stayed here since."
"Really? Well, I'm fine now." I said reassuringly, "You can head back to your dorm, no need to worry about..." My head fell, and in seconds I had fainted. The next time I woke up, I saw Madam Pomfrey staring at me. This brought back memories from last time I was in the hospital wing. Mason. Once again, Ryland was sat next to me- looking much more worried than before. I had been to the Hospital Wing twice in my time at Hogwarts, and I had only been there for 5 days! I had to stay in the Hospital Wing until lunch. That meant I couldn't have the wonderful breakfast from the Great Hall, but Hospital food was good... kind of. My friends joined me after they had their breakfast and we talked about all the things that had been going on! I talked about my necklace, Hayley talked about her sister. Hayley's sister was a muggle, she was a few years younger than Hayley but still looked up to her. Recently, her sister had written to Hayley sadly explaining Hayley's hamster-Lucky- had passed away. This was one of the things Haley dreaded most, a loved one's death. Caspian, had talked about how he already finished the first years textbooks! And Ryland, well he said he just studied. Eventually, I was let out of the Hospital Wing and was excused from lessons ALL day!

Since I was the only student out of lessons, I had the whole school for myself! I could do ANYTHING... Nearly, Professors still wandered the halls. And so did Odium, Odium was the Caretaker. He hates everybody-including Professor's, You don't want to get caught by Odium, if you did...well, let's just say you'd leave Hogwarts early. I hadn't met Odium yet, I was told he was evil, possibly even a modern Voldemort! Luckily, I had an Injury Pass. Injury Passes are badges, given to you when you have been injured. They show that you have been excused from lessons, and for no reason should be taken to the Headmaster. I believe they are similar to a Muggle object called a Hall Pass? Even though I could do anything I wanted, I decided to head to the Library and learn more about why Voldemorts name was in such a childish book! The library didn't have many books about Lord Voldemort, except for the stories of Harry Potter and Voldemort. The only way to learn about dark magic and the history of Voldemort, was to enter the restricted section. And I was NOT doing that. Instead, I skimmed the book I found Voldemorts name in for more clues. There wasn't much information, except for a deeper understanding of my necklaces powers. But I didn't really want to know about my necklace anymore, I wanted to learn about Voldemort. The darkest Wizard of all time, the wizard who nearly took over the wizarding world and turn everyone evil! But this thought didn't occur at the time. All I wanted to know, is WHY Voldemorts name was in such a sweet, girly childish book? From everything I had been told about Voldemort, he definitely was not a sweet person! I hadn't learnt any more about Voldemort, and unless I could get into the restricted section, I probably never would! But as I was flicking through the book for the last time, I finally saw something... words. Now I know what you're thinking, obviously I could see words, I was flicking through a book! But what I saw, was words appearing from already made words. For example on page 6 and 7, there were at least 100 words, but when I flicked through the book all the words joined together to make the word, 'One.' This definitely wasn't normal, but just as I started to uncover the secret of Lord Voldemort... Odium caught me. "Hello, Hello...Hello. Reading restricted books eh? I'm taking you to the Headmaster, and you'll be out of Hogwarts before you know it!" Growled Odium in a sinister voice.
"But, I have an Injury Pass! I'm not allowed to go to the Headmaster with an Injury Pass!" I whimpered, as I showed Odium my Badge.
"Pathetic, you think you can get away from seeing the Headmaster, because of a small, useless badge! Well you're wrong, you're coming with me." Odium pulled the book out of my hand, and dragged me to Professor McGonagall's Office. I had never been as scared in my life!

As we entered the office, McGonagall was talking to the Minister Of Magic. He seemed very angered, but when he saw me The Minister said goodbye and charged out of the room. "Oh hello Odium, can you explain why there is a poor first year in my office?" Asked Professor McGonagall politely.
"Well you see Professor, this student was reading a book from the restricted section!" Exclaimed Odium. I don't understand why he was so delighted to tell her that, but he was.And I definitely was NOT reading a book from the restricted section, I found it on the floor!McGonagall didn't look impressed when she heard this, but she also had a look on her face that sent off the impression, she didn't believe Odium!
"I see, now if you would please leave my office while I will deal with miss Lovegood." McGonagall winked at me while she said this. Odium didn't see her though, and he stumbled out of the room. McGonagall explained that she new I would never intentionally read a restricted book without permission, and excused me from the room. She did take the book I was reading, but I'm sure there's copies of that book everywhere!

As usual, today did not go to plan. But that doesn't mean I didn't uncover any secrets! I know there's something to do with Voldemort and my necklace, I just don't know what...
