The Art of Brewing

Chapter 3
It is vital for almost any wizard to learn how to brew a potion. They serve a great purpose in even the everyday lives of wizards. Their magical powers and surroundings may bring trouble to them, and the potions exist so that it is possible to solve those troubles and problems - and also to cause them.

When brewing your potion, you would need the same things you would for casting a spell - a wand (or other spellcasting focus) and concentration. Essentially, you're casting a spell, but transforming it to take a liquid form. You would also need a cauldron, and other items - mortars, scales, and the like - depending on which potion you are brewing. When brewing a potion, patience is practical. Most potions won't turn out perfect in the beginning, and more advanced potions can take days - or even years - to brew. The most important thing is to have patience and to solve any problems you may encounter with calmness. Otherwise, you may increase the size of your problem and end up having your entire potion become useless - or worse, harmful - waste. When using a recipe, it is vital to follow every instruction - even one little error, such as an extra stir, may ruin the whole potion.

In the end, most potions require a flick of the wand as a finishing touch. Most potions don't require any special movements or incantations. Though this is the final step, it needs to be done well - otherwise your potion's effectiveness may weaken. Confidently swish your wand at about the diameter of a standard cauldron, and tap the edge of the cauldron lightly as you convey your magical energy into the solution.
