Chapter 1
“Mum?” said Jason.
“Yes, Jason?” I said.
“W-will I be in Slytherin?”
“Oh, Jay.” I kissed him on his forehead.
Out of my three kids, Jason had inherited his father’s eyes.
“Will I?” Jason repeated.
“I really don’t know,” I admitted.
“Was Dad in Slytherin?” Julia asked.
“He was in Ravenclaw,” I replied. “I, on the other hand, was in Slytherin.”
“Was it fun?” said Jonathan.
I smiled. “It was okay.”
“When did you meet Dad?” asked Jason.
“I didn’t meet your father until we were in our 2nd year. Before that I had a crush on your Uncle.”
“Uncle Harry?” said Julia.
“Yup,” I replied. “You can ask more in the morning. Now let’s pray.”
“You forgot dad!” cried Julia.
“Oops,” I said. “Con! We’re praying!”
“Coming, honey!” said Conner, my husband.
“OK, I’m here,” he said.
“Our father,
Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us for our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
And deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
The power and the glory,
Forever and ever.
Amen.”
I walked to Julia’s room.
“You are my Julia, my only Julia. You make me happy, when skies are gray. You’ll never know, Julia, how much I love you, Julia. Please don’t take, my Julia, away. Love you, Jules.”
“Love you too, Mum,” she replied, yawned, and rolled over.
I went to Jason’s room and sat on his bed.
“You are my Jason, my only Jason. You make me happy, when skies are gray. You’ll never know, Jason, how much I love you, Jason. Please don’t take, my Jason, away.’
“Night, sport,” Conner said, ruffling Jason’s hair.
“Dad!” Jason said, laughing.
I went over to John’s room.
“You are my John.”
“Mum-”
“My only John.”
“Mum, please-”
“You make me happy, when skies are gray.”
“Please don’t-”
“You’ll never know, John, how much I love you, John. Please don’t take, my John, away.”
I got up and walked to the stairs.
“Mum?”
I turned back to Jason’s room.
“Mum?” he repeated.
“Yes?”
“You said that your new job is a secret. When will you tell us?”
“Tomorrow at the station,” I replied.
“OK,” Jason said. “Night, Mum. Night, Dad.”
“Night, Jason,” I said. “See you in the morning.”
I turned off the lights and went downstairs.

Two Hours Later…

The doorbell rang. I put down the Daily Prophet, and opened the door.
“Hullo, Izzy.”
“Hey, Ron!” I said. “How are you?”
“Good. May I come in?” he asked.
“Sure!” I said.
Ron walked in.
“I have bad news,” he said as I closed the door.
“Fire away.”
Rom pulled a letter out of his jeans pocket and handed it to me. I opened the letter and carefully unfolded the parchment within.

Izzy,
Come home to Malfoy Manor ASAP. You mother is very ill. She is acting very unlike herself. She won’t eat or drink. She is so sick that the doctors say that if she doesn’t eat or drink, she will die in the next 24 hours. Only you can help.
Please come soon,
Draco

This letter was sent August 30th, 12:25 PM.

I gasped.
“Connor! I’m going out!” I called.
“OK!” he called back. “See you when you come back!”
I grabbed my wand, my bag, a piece of parchment, and a quill, and did the math.

12:25
-10:31
____
1:94 = 2:34

2 hours and 34 minutes. It will only take me 20 to get there. I threw on my traveling cloak, grabbed my Invisibility cloak, thanked Ron, and disapparated.
