The genre of fiction that you are writing will significantly influence how you will tell your story.
What genre(s) do you envision your story falling into?
fantasy
sci-fi (incl. cyberpunk and steampunk)
romance (incl. erotica)
western
action/adventure
horror
historical
mystery/detective
crime
inspirational

Why these genres? With the exception of fantasy, what elements of these genres do you plan to utilize? Why are they essential to the story you want to tell?
Write the first three or four lines of your story in three distinctly different genres. Are you able to tell straight away that these are different genres, or will it be woven in more gradually? How do you plan to utilize genre?
