Here I have listed some more plants that do not fit into one of the above categories, however they can be handy to know about and can come in handy in the "Practical potions" chapter later in the book.
Adder's Tongue - Best used in potions designed to heal cuts and burns, particularly in cold potions for the best results.
African Violet - A more generic protective plant it is best to ensure that the flowers are as fresh as possible before using it in potions.
Alison - More commonly known as Madwort it is used to protect against obsession and against people who are particularly angry through its calming properties.
Arbutus - Used mainly to protect against evil spirits and hexes, it can also be used in potions to help protect children from illness or various other purposes.
Basheen - Mainly used in healing potions, it has also been known to promote luck.
Bamboo - When used in powdered form it can be used to break most hexes. If you want to use it for healing purposes use the bamboo whole or the leaves.
Carob - This ingredient, whilst having healing properties, is effective in potions preventing illness. Because of this I suggest using it with Arbutus for the best results.
Chili Pepper - Another herb that has multiple qualities, when chopped it is used to break spells and hexes (it has even been known to break the effects of love potions / spells and, in one case, the Cruciatus Curse). If it is ground into a powder it becomes a powerful ingredient for love potions.
Cloudberry - A particularly odd ingredient, it has only ever displayed healing properties when combined with stronger healing ingredients or protective ingredients. Because of this, I recommend that Cloudberries should only be used in potions which are intended to be used for healing.
Crosswort - Used to ward off evil spirits and protect the drinker from danger, it should only be used in very small amounts due to the risk of causing sickness.
Daphne - Known for being one of the best plants for protective potions, it protects the user from almost anything - however it should be noted that it is an extremely strong flavour.
Dragon's Blood - Thankfully this does not require getting blood from an actual dragon, it is often found in resin form from approved suppliers (due to its rarity). Using this in protection potions, particularly those protecting against evil, will increase its effectiveness considerably.
Hemp - Although many muggle societies have outlawed the use of this particular herb it is readily available from the local apothecary or herbologist. Using this in healing potions is advisable when the effects may be particularly painful, such as potions aimed at mending broken bones.
Princess Feather - Commonly used in Spanish wizarding communities the use of the flowers can speed up the healing effects of potions.
Slaz - Mostly used in potions originating from Voodoo practising countries, it has strong protective properties against ghosts and spectres.
Stickwort - A particularly strong protective plant that is best used as the base of antidotes, it can also be used as a part of weaker sleeping drafts due to its potency. Because of the strength of the herb I recommend that it shouldn't be used to help those with insomnia.
Sweet Melissa - A very strong healing herb it has been known to heal some injuries instantly it is best used in potions aimed to heal cuts and to prevent blood loss.
