MOON FLOWER (and Angel's Trumpet)

Chapter 36
The Moon Flower is a spectacular nocturnal plant. Unsurprisingly, its flower is white (or pale shades of other colors) and thrives in the moonlight. The Moon Flower is a cacti, although unlike most cacti it has a very short life span. The Moon Flower blooms and dies with each cycle of the moon. The Moon Flower is a highly toxic plant, and is thus used in many poisons. The flower petals, leaves, and oil when ingested causes bouts of violence, visual hallucinations, amnesia, hypothermia, tachycardia, aversion to light (to the point of extreme pain), dilated pupils, and death. After an increase in use of the plant for suicides, the Ministry of Magic declared it an illegal substance for selling and trading. This plant is also very much incorporated into use of dark magic, and can be found in potions books dealing with the dark arts. This same plant has a shrub counterpart with the same properties. Angel's Trumpet is a witch's weed, which tends to be white or a light purple. Everything about the plant is the same as the Moon Flower, except that the Angel's Trumpet has a longer lifespan.
