The Great Clustering: What is it:
It is movement when a group of wizards started to group themselves together.
Why did the clustering form:
Most people want to be with people they feel comfortable with. People will have something in common to talk about.
When did it form?
It formed during the 14th and 15th centuries.
What is a famous clustering?
It is a famous European wizarding village called “Saint-Decatur” in France.
What three main European Villages were discussed in Lesson One?
They are called Saint-Decatur (France), Jøndum (Denmark) Grahogden, (Luxembourg).
Saint-Decatur:
The people live in the Alsace region of France. It is in the Upper East part of the country. This part of the country borders Germany and Switzerland. This land was discovered in 1825. The village is found near the small city of Strasbourg. It is a near distance away from Colmar.
Colmar:
There were many wizard duels in this city during 1808 and 1868. A well-known wizard duel was between Stephen Decatur and James Barron. These men fought over the angry insults and letters that both men wrote. They wanted to use black magic in the battles to help them succeed in winning. These insults went on for a period of 13 long years. In 1820, Barren finally chose to actually duel Decatur in a wizarding duel. Decatur was truthfully a wizard. Barron thought Decatur died, but Decatur faked his death.
James Barron searched for all the family of the Decatur's. He wanted them all murdered, but the Decatur family was faithfully saved by other wizarding families. They actually hid them within their families to protect them from James Barron. This group moved for five years before settling down in a small city of Strasbourg. Julia the wife of Stephen lived here for a long time.
She started protecting other wizarding families in danger. They were escaping the muggle civil war. They joined Julia in this small village. Many German and Swiss wizarding families also joined this tight-knit group as well. This small clustering of wizarding families grew in Saint Decatur. Present Day Saint Decatur has over six thousand people residents. It is the most prominent wizarding village.
Jøndum
This tiny village is located in North Zealand of Denmark. It actually the smallest pure wizarding village in Europe with only 300 people. It has been up since the Viking age. Magic is practiced out in the open in this small village. Children are very comfortable at controlling magic at a young age in this village.
During the 1800’s, parents brought their children to live with them in this tiny village. Children would be cared for by a group of ten witches and wizards. This group was lead by a village chief was known as Jordan Larits. The ten witches would provide food and shelter. Children would stay in these villages for a long period of time.
A student called Lester Holfiger was not able to control his magic at a young age. He would break glass very often. His parents were known as Job and Kelsey Holfiger brought him here. Finally, after lots of help and encouragement, he was able to control his magic at the age of 16. Lester became the Chief of the Village in 1867 to 1986. His main desire was to help other children that were just like himself.
Grahogden
This partial wizarding European village is located in the North Eastern part of Luxembourg. The location is called Putscheid. It has 50,000 yearly visitors. They go to touch the Tree of Leben. The Tree of Leben is also more commonly known as the Tree of Life.
