Chapter 12
In this chapter we've learnt to create fire, reveal invisible ink, conjure birds and change the size of things. Now it's time to give your skills a real test, in a place where only Gringotts Curse-Breakers have trod before. You will need each of your new spells to pass. Good luck, tread carefully and remember: it is imprudent to annoy a sphinx.

A sphinx is conjured, it is common knowledge that these cunning creatures take delight in puzzles and mysteries.

Q1: What spell can be used to find a puzzle?

HIDDEN MESSAGE: Three trials you must pass to prove your worth.

Now, a small wooden statue has appeared... with bugs crawling all over it.

Q2: What spell might you use to get rid of bugs in a situation like this?

Another statue appears, which looks like a torch bearer... except both of his torches have gone out.

Q3: What spell can be used to ignite the flames the torch bearer does not possess?

A third sculpture appears, in the form of balancing scales. On the balancing scales two scorpions can be seen, one is made of stone, and is physically apart of the sculpture, the other made of metal and is completely unattached to the scales. The stone scorpion however seems to be heavier, making the scales out of balance.

Q4: What spell could you use to balance out the weight of the scales?

The spell you cast on the apparently cursed scorpion comes to life, the third trial was a trap! Suddenly you're pulled into a dark room, however you think you can see some torches.

You realise you're in an ancient Egyptian tomb! More scorpions come into your view! Walking over a grill on the bottom of the tomb.

Q6: What spell might be able to get rid of the scorpion threat?

The monster from the book is back, and before you can react, the heavy weight of the scorpion breaks the grill, and along with the metal creature, you fall in.

Once you hit the ground you see the monster-sized scorpion about to attack you!
