Staff Changes
Although you’ve already been at Hogwarts for a couple of weeks, the school year still seems fresh and new. As you pass by the library, you pick up a copy of the Hogwarts Owl and check out the latest news about Hogwarts is Here.
Welcome back to Hogwarts, everyone! I hope you’re all having a great first month back, and that the professors haven’t been loading too much homework on you. Speaking of the professors, I’ve noticed a couple of students confused about who their Head of House is or which professor to contact for various issues—especially due to some recent staffing changes. Hogwarts is Here has recently adopted a new policy in which the Deputy Head and Heads of House are designated at the beginning of each new school year, so make sure to check the Newsroom regularly to be informed of any changes. All returning students should be aware that there is a new Deputy Headmistress, Professor Salvatrix (https://www.hogwartsishere.com/1479386/), a new Slytherin Head of House, Professor Rosenquist (https://www.hogwartsishere.com/409492/), and two new librarians joining: Miss Kensington, Madam Ambrose (https://www.hogwartsishere.com/1761141/). Lastly, Professor Valeris, who recently joined Professor Laurel as a temporary Charms co-professor, will be staying on as History of Magic professor! As a helpful guide, first-years can check the following news article to get the scoop on senior staff roles: https://www.hogwartsishere.com/news/77/ .
For any students hoping to get involved with Hogwarts is Here as a staff member, there are several opportunities to apply for a position as a PA or a professor. Students who have recently graduated may want to check out the open applications for the Ancient Runes or Muggle Studies professorship. It is recommended to have finished most of the course you are applying for, but anyone is welcome to apply. I do encourage you to consider your decision carefully, as being a professor is a big responsibility and will require a lot of time and dedication. If you’re not sure you want to teach but still want to help out with the classes here at Hogwarts, consider applying to be a PA! Make sure that you have finished at least the first year of the course you want to PA for, including extra credit, with an average of at least 80-85% depending on the course. There are currently opportunities to help with History of Magic, Magical Art, or Flying classes. The History of Magic application closes on September 21st, and Flying on September 20th, so anyone who is interested should apply quickly. PAing or professorship can be a very rewarding experience!
Well, that’s all the news we have today, folks. Make sure to check back at the end of the month for the next edition of the Hogwarts Owl!
