Chapter 4

I don’t believe it. Any of this, none of it is real. Oh god I hope none of this is real. But, it has to be, because it all just happened, and Nora is standing there, right in front of me. Maddie looks just as shocked as I am, I wonder what she’s thinking right now. Is it the same as me?

“I am so sorry. I was scared. I hid from the wold and built up my walls, I didn’t know what else to do, what to think, I couldn’t fathom what happened, and I still can’t. It all feels like my fault.” Nora starts explaining herself and tears build up in her eyes. She continues, “I wasn’t going to miss Liv’s big day though, I decided to come as someone else and then hide away again… But after what just happened, I realized, you guys are my sisters, and we need to be there for eachother. I need to be there for you. Please let me back into your lives, I truly am so sorry-” She’s cut off by Maddie.

“It’s okay! We forgive you, we were so worried about you, I’m just happy to see you alive, I’m sure Liv feels the same.” They look at me. Nora is red with tears. They are looking at me as if in anticipation of my answer.

“Oh yes. Yes! Of course, I love you guys and I am so glad you’re here Nora!” I finally force out.

Later that night, I’m getting ready for bed with Nora, Maddie, and Siren. We decided that a sleepover was mandatory after the day I’ve had. We’re all at my house because that was the closest. It has never been this messy in here before. I’v always been on my own or with Josh, with three other girls here, there is blankets, pillows, and food everwhere. Its drivng me crazy, but I’m too sad to say anything.

“Okay! We’ve had a shit-tastic day!” Siren begins announcing, “We deserve 4 gallons of ice cream and sappy rom coms!”

“I fully agree!” Nora nods, then she looks down at her feet and sighs. “Before we do that though, can I say, I love you guys, and I know I keep repeating it, but I am so, so, so sorry.”

I finally speak up weakly, “It’s okay, we forgive you, I am just so glad that you are safe, and okay.” I reach out and grab Nora’s hand, giving it a slight squeeze.

I know I may not sound entirely sure of the words I’ve just said, but I really mean them.

In about two and a half hours, we all lay down spread out in my living room ready to go to sleep. I drift off and wake up at about four o’clock in the morning to a call. Who in the lands are calling me at four in the fucking morning? …It’s an unknown number.

I head upstairs quietly to answer it. I click the answer and the screen pops up in front of me, it’s the queen.

“Your highness? To what do I owe the pleasure?”

“Cut the crap L.” She begins, “I need you to come to the castle first thing in the morning. No questions asked, if you have any objections, consider it an order.”

“Why? Is something wong? Is Addie okay?” I begin panicking, why would she need to see me?

“Addie is fine, no more questions, I better see you.” Then, she hangs up.
