Prologue

Chapter 1

One second, I’m choking on a piece of toast. The next, I’m floating in a dark void, staring at some glowing figure who looks just as confused as I feel.

“Uh… this wasn’t supposed to happen,” A giant floating humanoid figure mutters, rubbing their temples. “You were meant to live another fifty or sixty years. Bureaucratic error, my bad.”

I blink,” So… what now?”

The figure sighs,“ Well, normally, we’d just put you back, but your body’s kind of a lost cause. So… reincarnation it is. As an apology, I’ll grant you a few wishes.” I stare at it. Was this real? Some kind of weird afterlife joke? But if it is real… I have an opportunity here. A slow grin spreads across my face. 

“Okay. First, I want to be reincarnated in the Harry Potter world. Make me a pure blood, powerful witch, but not super super overpowered. I want to save people who die, Fred, Lupin, Tonks, Padfoot, and others. I want a photographic/eidetic memory for spells and languages.” I say up to it.

The figure raises an eyebrow,” Done. Anything else?”Oh, I was just getting started.

 “I want a case like Newt Scamander’s case—the one with the magical pocket dimension inside—so I can fill it with creatures.” I say excitedly. “ That will accommodate the creatures I put in.”

It chuckles,” Good choice. Granted.”

“Speaking of creatures, I want the ability to summon them and plants. Magical, non-magical, even fictional ones. But nothing overpowered or world-ending, and I have to bond with them while they stay with me. If I bond with them I want the creature to always remember the bond for the rest of their lives. Also food to feed them.” I explain to it.

The figure looks at me thoughtfully,” You want to earn their trust instead of just controlling them? That’s rare. Alright, wish granted.”

I barely contain my excitement,” Now, I want my phone. Unlimited battery, WiFi that works no matter where I am, and completely hidden from anyone else, like how wands are hidden from Muggles, and I wanna be able to summon things from my phone, like if I see something cool!”

It snorts,” You want internet access in the Wizarding World?”

“Do you know how frustrating it would be to live without Google?” I deadpan at the figure.

It rolls its glowing eyes,”Fine, but don’t complain if magic makes your phone glitchy.”

I grin,” Okay, next, I want to be able to make clothes and other things with magic. Nothing enchanted or whatever—just regular, normal ones. I like creating things, and if I’m traveling to find magical creatures and taking care of them, I’ll need custom clothes and gear.”

The figure hums,” You’re an interesting one. Alright, granted.” I take a deep breath.

”And finally, I want money. Not an endless fortune, just a steady allowance that automatically refills, in both wizarding money and muggle so I don’t have to stress about surviving.”

It snaps again,” You’ll get a personal vault at Gringotts. The allowance will be weekly. Enough to live comfortably and fund your travels, but you won’t be filthy rich.”

I let out a satisfied sigh,” Now that is everything.”

The figure smirks,“ Alright then. Time to go.” Before I could say another word, everything goes dark.
