Autumn vibe drink-Cinnamon Apple Delight by Adeleina Rosewood
Chapter 11
Well, we are now into the lovely season of Autumn, and we all know that Autumn-themed foods and drinks are the finest, don’t we? That’s why today I’m going to show you how to make these delicious Cinnamon Apples, and then show you what you can use them for. They’re so easy, simple, and most importantly, delicious! Luckily, they can be made with stuff you probably already have!
SERVINGS: 3 cups (4 servings)
PREP TIME: 5 minutes
COOK TIME: 15 minutes
EQUIPMENT:
Pan
Tablespoon
Teaspoon
Spatula
INGREDIENTS:
3 apples
2 tablespoons of water (can use apple juice or cider for a stronger flavour)
1 tablespoon of butter, ghee, or coconut oil
1 tablespoon of maple syrup/brown sugar
½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon
Pinch of sea salt
¼ teaspoon of vanilla extract
METHOD:
Cut your apples into small chunks. Try to make them roughly the same size and don’t make them too small or too big. Around the size of chunks for an apple pie.
Put the apples into your pan with two tablespoons of water. Cover the pan and cook over medium heat for about five minutes, stirring occasionally, or until the water has been absorbed and apples are slightly soft. Only slightly, because we’re still cooking.
Add 1 tablespoon of butter, coconut oil, or ghee, to your pan. Stir the apples until everything has been coated. Cook for five minutes.
Add your maple syrup/brown sugar, cinnamon, salt*, and vanilla. Stir until well mixed and evenly coated.
* = if your butter was salted, don’t add this!
Cook for about five more minutes or until the apples are as soft as you’d like them.
Remove from the heat and plate.
TIPS FOR SUCCESS:
Peeling apples is not always necessary. If you can feel that the apples are very waxy, I’d advise you to peel them. This also applies if you are feeding this to a small child. However, it has no real effect on the recipe.
Apple variety also doesn’t matter! Use any red apples you’d like.
This dish can be stored in a refrigerator for up to five days. Store in a glass container with a lid.
WHERE CAN I USE IT?
Great question! There are loads of ways you can utilise this caramel, cinnamon-y, deliciousness. One of my favourite things to do is to plate it right on top of fresh vanilla ice-cream as a dessert. Complete heaven, and perfectly autumn. You can also use this as a great side dish with your breakfast recipes - on top of pancakes, waffles, oats, french toast, and more! I know that I’m definitely making this soon. Try it and let me know what you think!
