Problem Potions

Evelyn sought the courage she lacked,
So she brewed a love potion with purpose intact.
Yet a single misstep in her calculated spell,
Bound her heart to itself—a solitary hell.
Lost in mirrors, a victim of pride,
Her reflection held her, nowhere to hide.
The halls grew silent as she passed through,
Entangled by charms she could not undo.

Oliver planned a harmless disguise,
Yet one cat hair slipped past his eyes.
The Polyjuice Potion, complex and precise,
Turned him into a creature of whiskered vice.
With twitching tail and amber gaze,
His prank dissolved in feline malaise.
His friends barely knew him—lost, misled,
A stranger in skin he could not shed.

Sarah craved the power of fire and flame,
Dreamt of the dragon’s untamed fame.
She measured each drop, intent and bold,
But flames filled her throat—hot and uncontrolled.
Her hands couldn’t soothe the burn’s reach,
Books charred as she gasped for speech.
A lesson unlearned in reckless desire,
Chasing dragons left her engulfed in fire.

Clara’s nights were fractured and frayed,
Her dormmates’ snores left her spirit decayed.
A draught of rest, a single drop too deep,
Now binds her in days of unbroken sleep.
Her dreams drift empty; time moves around,
With her spirit in shadows, unbound, unwound.
What was meant for peace became a spell of night,
Drawn to depths beyond her sight.

Each potion crafted with careful hand,
But magic’s edge is sharp as sand.
When minds outrun their craft and skill,
The consequences linger, dark and still.
