The Siren's Lament

Chapter 3

The Siren's Lament

On moonlit waves she softly sings,
A voice that haunts the midnight rings,
Her song, a whisper on the breeze,
Calls sailors from the restless seas.

With eyes that gleam like distant stars,
She waits beneath the harbour’s bars,
Her melody, a lullaby,
That bids the bravest men to die.

They feel her voice upon the air,
A spell, a kiss, a whispered prayer,
And in their hearts a hunger grows,
For shores that only she bestows.

The captain stirs, his compass lost,
He steers the ship at any cost,
For in her song, he seeks his fate,
Unknowing death lies in her wake.

Her arms, like water, soft and cold,
Enfold them as the waves take hold,
No cry of mercy fills the night,
Just silence as they slip from sight.

The sea is still, her song is done,
The sailors gone, the battle won.
And in the depths where shadows fall,
The siren waits, her haunting call.

A voice that never fades away,
For those who hear, they cannot stay.
Beware, young souls, the siren’s cry,
Or you’ll be next beneath the sky.
