Chapter 16

Bludger – A heavy, enchanted ball used in Quidditch matches. Bludgers fly around trying to knock players off their brooms, but don’t worry, Beaters are there to keep them in check!


Broomstick – A flying broom used by witches and wizards for transportation, as well as for playing Quidditch. Remember to hold on tight!


Bowtruckle – A small, twig-like creature that guards wand wood trees. Though usually shy, Bowtruckles can get quite feisty if they think their trees are in danger.


Cursed – When a spell or magical object has been enchanted to cause harm or bad luck, it’s said to be cursed. Beware of cursed objects in dark, dusty shops!


Ghoul – A mischievous, ghost-like creature that dwells in houses and attics. Ghouls enjoy causing chaos and making a mess, but they are usually harmless.


Golden Snitch – A tiny, golden, winged ball used in Quidditch. The Seeker’s job is to catch the Snitch, which ends the game and earns their team 150 points!


Hippogriff – A magical creature with the body of a horse and the head and wings of an eagle. They are proud and noble and will only allow you to approach if you show them proper respect by bowing first.


Lich – A powerful dark wizard or witch who has achieved immortality through necromancy. Liches often retain their intelligence and magical abilities but are typically associated with evil and dark magic.

Niffler – A small, furry creature with a long snout and a love for anything shiny. Be careful, as Nifflers have a knack for sneaking off with your jewellery and coins!


Pumpkin Pasties – A popular magical snack, these delicious pastries are filled with sweet pumpkin filling. You’ll often find them sold on the Hogwarts Express.


Quidditch – A popular wizarding sport played on broomsticks, involving four balls (including the Bludger and Golden Snitch) and three goalposts at each end. Teams of seven players try to score points by throwing the Quaffle through the opposing team’s hoops.


Sorting Hat – A magical hat that decides which house new Hogwarts students belong to. It takes into account the student's personality and preferences to sort them into Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin.


Tentacula (Venomous Tentacula) – A dangerous magical plant with long, spiked vines and a venomous bite. It’s best to keep your distance unless you’ve got a good handle on Herbology!


Wand – A tool used by witches and wizards to channel their magical abilities. Wands are typically made from wood and often contain a magical core, such as a phoenix feather or dragon heartstring.
