Baby Safety Month

Chapter 8

Babies are delicate (loud), adorable (LOUD), angelic and, I don't think I've mentioned this, but extremely LOUD!

But let’s face it, babies are one of the cutest, most charming creatures on Earth and we need to cherish these little bundles of joy! Baby Safety Month is all about supporting new parents in making sure that their homes are baby-proof, as well as tips on how to do this. Thus, in this article, I will be sharing some tips and people you can turn to if you need any help!

Now, let’s dive right into the first piece of advice!

1) Baby safety gates are an excellent way to keep babies and toddlers out of places they shouldn't be.
2) Mount and secure heavy furniture like bookcases, TVs, and dressers, as babies are curious and clumsy, with nearly no coordination, so they can topple objects over out of sheer accident!
3) Cover the sharp edges of tables, chairs, dressers, bookcases, and TVs to stop babies from hurting themselves!
4) Install baby-proof locks. It's a good precaution to put baby-proof locks on cabinets containing cleaning supplies, medications or other items that you wouldn't want your child to find.
5) Keep electrical outlets covered. Babies are naturally curious and always want to touch interesting objects. Furthermore, they are at the perfect height to reach those outlets which can pose a risk to their safety.
6) Bundle and hide extinction and electrical cords. Youngsters have an insatiable desire to chew. Therefore, they might locate one of those pesky cords and start nibbling. To avoid this, be more conscious and bundle or tuck away electrical cords!
7) Make sure your baby's crib is safe and secure so that it won’t pose as a danger to them!
Last, but not the least...
8) Store batteries and small objects that could be harmful to the baby's well being in a cabinet using your new baby-proof locks!

In order to provide a safe atmosphere for their children, new parents can turn to a few enterprises and businesses. These can include, but are not limited to:
International Association for Child Safety (IAFCS)
Baby Proofers Plus
Natural Resources SF

That’s all I have for this chapter. I hope you gained some new knowledge! Now, happy Baby Safety Month!
