Fandoms

Chapter 17

Have you ever heard of a fandom? Are you a part of a fandom, or two, or ten?! I’m here to rate, recommend, and explain all of the fandoms from my very studious and logical point of view. Not everyone will agree with what I state about each fandom, but if you would like, you could read on to hear my opinion on them.

Harry Potter 10/10
- 7 books, 3 side novels, and 8 movies (as well as multiple screen writes).
- The obvious reason we all are here. Harry Potter gives us a sense of childhood and innocence. It also provides a world to live and immerse ourselves in when we aren't too fond of the real world. The characters are incredibly relatable, each having their own struggles and strong points; the plot and dialogue are very memorable, in both the movies and books. The overall fan base is very welcoming, although there are some places where the fan base is a little– well you know, shaky. Definitely recommend it as a read or movie marathon binge.

Star Wars 8/10
- 12 movies, 9 animated series, 6 live-action series, over 100 New Canon Books, and almost 400 Legends books.
- One of my personal favourite fandoms. There are childish and mature themes in Star Wars. It is one of the most in-depth and detailed fandoms, with pros and cons. The books are not nearly as popular as the movies and series. Perhaps this is due to Disney purchasing the Star Wars franchise, leading to the movies and series declining in quality and thought. The Clone Wars animated series has always had a special place in my heart, and I would 100% recommend it as a watch. There is so much attention to detail that it will blow your mind as you watch it.

Hunger Games 9/10
- 4 (soon to be 5) books, and 5 (soon to be 6) movies.
- This fandom is very amazing! The books are so thought out and well-liked. Currently, I am on the last book, and I am having major beef with the plot! Some aspects of the movies are confusing, but reading the books clears it all up. The fandom is pretty innocent and very nice. Overall I recommend 100%.

Divergent 5/10
- 3 films, 3 books, and 1 companion novel.
- I had a Divergent phase for a while. It was kind of boring, so I eventually left it. The plot seemed copied from other fandoms. The overall theme wasn’t for me but that doesn't mean it isn’t for you! You should still read and watch the movies, you may like them.

Maze Runner 7/10
- 6 books, 3 films.
- This one has never been my cup of tea either. I read most of the books or rather skimmed through them, but I was never interested enough to watch the movies. It was however very intriguing throughout, with twists and turns and an entertaining plot. I would definitely recommend this if you are looking for a great read and welcoming fandom!

Hamilton 9/10
- Musical.
- This is by far one of the funniest fandoms to be a member of! The memes and moments of the original cast are on point. This fandom can sometimes be a bit of a handful, and it is not for those who dislike musicals.

Percy Jackson 7/10
- 2 movies, 1 series (still in the making), 17 books across three series.
- This fandom is mostly younger fans, and sometimes not the most accepting. There are some theories and ships that I personally consider too far out there… This fandom is definitely one to join if you are a younger audience.

Marvel 10/10
- Over 30,000 comics, 29 television shows/series, 34 films
- My current favourite fandom! The plot and characters are full of detail including plot twists and betrayal. However it can be sad, but all for good reasons. There are many different stories that Marvel has to tell that it must be so hard not to be intrigued at first glance. I of course recommend this fully!! Although, I would watch with parental consent/guidance as there are a lot of mature themes, as well as violence and death.

Les Miserables 6/10
- Musical, book, and movie.
- Originally a book written during the French Revolution, but shortly became popularised by the musical created around it. Nowadays the fandom is mostly girls crushing on the French Parisians, but whatever! It has catchy and meaningful songs. Personally, I think it is great overall. There are some mature themes in this as well, so please don’t watch it if you are under 13. If you choose to watch, please gain parental/guardian consent or watch under their supervision.

That’s all for this chapter. Thanks for reading!
