Chapter 15

Movies ~

1. Inside Out 2:
This is a follow-up of Inside Out 1, a popular movie that is very well known. Riley, the main character, enters the stage of puberty and experiences new intricate emotions. Riley’s old emotions are trying to adjust to the thought of being replaced whilst she tries to adjust to being a teenager.

2. Despicable Me 4:
Gru, Lucy, Margo, Edith, and Agnes wholeheartedly welcome a new member into the family - Gru. Jr, who is intent on tormenting his dad. Woah! That sounds crazy, right? However, the family is forced to flee as Gru encounters Maxime Le Mal (Nope, this is not Olympe Maxime, guys! I’d suggest steering clear of making Hagrid mad!) and his girlfriend Valentina as new adversaries.

3. It Ends With Us:
Yes, the famous book by Colleen Hoover, can now be found in movie form! A woman's relationship with a charming but abusive neurosurgeon falls apart when her first love reappears out of nowhere, and she realises she has to learn to rely on herself to make a difficult decision for her future. But this isn’t easy. Because, as I've mentioned before, her husband is abusive.

4. Mean Girls:
“And right now, you’re getting on my last nerve” -Regina George
At her new school, Cady Heron is popular with the A-list girl clique, known as the plastics. But when she makes the mistake of falling in love with Alpha Plastic Regina George's ex-boyfriend, Aaron Samuels, everything changes drastically.

5. A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder:
Yes! My personal favourite series (and book trilogy). The bright sleuth Pip Fitz-Amobi isn't sure if schoolgirl Andie Bell was murdered five years ago by her lover Sal Singh. If Sal Singh wasn't the murderer, how far will they have to go to stop Pip from discovering the truth?

6. Coraline:
My "Comfort Movie." I know what you must be thinking, that’s extremely strange! But this movie is certainly one of a kind. Eleven-year-old Coraline finds a hidden door leading to an oddly idealised version of her life whilst roaming around her spacious old house in her dull new town. She has to give up something horrifyingly real to remain in the fantasy... her eyes! Now, that’s scary.

Songs ~

1. Birds Of A Feather by Billie Eilish:
“Birds of a feather, we should stick together, I know
I said I'd never think I wasn't better alone”
Ahh, I can't get this off my tongue or out of my head! The song emphasises themes of intense love and the need for a committed relationship. The English saying "birds of a feather flock together" is how "Birds of a Feather" gets its title. Eilish sings of falling in love and wanting to "stick together" in an "emotionally vulnerable" way. She asks the person she loves to never stop their relationship since she is deeply in love with them.

2. Please, Please, Please by Sabrina Carpenter-
“Please please please don't prove I'm right
Please please please
Don't bring me to tears when I just did my makeup so nice”
The "Espresso" music clip, which was released earlier in 2024, is followed by the "Please Please Please" music video. At the conclusion of the "Espresso" music video, Carpenter is arrested. "I ended the last video getting arrested, so naturally I thought it would be satisfying to start the 'Please Please Please' video in jail" , the artist stated.

3. Belong Together by Mark Ambor:
“You and me belong together
Like cold iced tea and warmer weather”
On February 16th, American singer-songwriter Mark Ambor released his newest track, "Belong Together." You'll be humming along and unable to get the song out of your brain as soon as the lively melody kicks in. In this song, Ambor clearly emphasises how the presence of loved ones can turn even the toughest days into something special.

4. Fortnight by Taylor Swift:
“And for a fortnight there, we were forever
Run into you sometimes, ask about the weather”
Taylor Swift talks about a brief but profoundly impactful romance in the song's lyrics, one that still affects her, even now that her ex-partner has moved on. She sings, "Your wife waters flowers, I wanna kill her" and in one stanza, "And I love you it's ruining my life / I touched you for only a fortnight."
