Wand properties


Most people use wands, although very skilled people can do wandless magic. Wand are considered to be semi-sentient, this does not mean it’s a living being, it needs an owner to work.


Ash wand are good for defensive charms, but you should not pass them on. Phoenix tail feathers make for a versatile wand but they could act on the own


The four parameters that define a wand:



  • length, wands are usually within 9 to 14 inches.

  • Flexibility, such as pliant, spongy, springy, supple, whippy, willowy, yielding wand are flexible. Rigid wands can be firm, inflexible, resistant, stiff, unbending, unpliable and unyielding.

  • Wood, multiple woods in one wand could crate tention, so only one type gets used per wand.

  • Core, the best and most common ones are unicorn hair, dragon heartstring and pheonix feathers.


 


The Mending Charm


Incantation: Reparo (‘reh-PAH-roh’)


Wand Movement: Inward pointed spiral, continued until the object is fully repaired


Willpower: Minimal


Concentration: High; Visualization of the repaired object should be maintained until the object is repaired.


 


This spell was created in 1754 by Orabella Nuttley, she used it to repear the colosseum. It only works on mundane objects, the broken objects also needs to be recognizable.


 


Unlocking Charm


Incantation: Alohomora (‘al-LOH-ha-MOR-ah’)


Wand Movement: Backward S curving up at the end


Willpower: None for simple mechanical locks; minimal to very high for locks ranging from complex mechanical to complex magical.


Concentration: Visualization of yourself unlocking the lock


 


This spell unlocks locks, both magical and mundane. It comes from Afrika and was made by Eldon Elsrickle. Complex mundane locks are still simple but magical ones aren’t.
