Random Thoughts of a Couple Teenage Girls

written by Autumn Edelstein

Some points that me and my friend discussed one night that I decided to make into a book. It gets very deep, talking about some of the struggles of being a woman and some things we think should change about society's perspective and view of women. It takes me a while to write these chapters so it will be updated sporadically. Please enjoy! Cover from Pinterest

Insecurities

Chapter 1

I don’t know if this is just me, but I didn’t seem to be insecure about anything until someone brought it up. Even if they meant to bring it up for self love purposes, I can’t help but feel like they introduced me to a whole new thing to hate about myself. If this is also how you feel, then you might not want to read this chapter because, while I did write it to help you love yourself, it does also mention insecurities and I would never want you to feel like reading about them can make you more insecure. It gets worse when a guy brings it up though, even if they are praising it, you only start to think of it as something undesirable. It’s so hard for me to guess what guys like though. Like you think they like something but under the surface it secretly is not something they like nor care about. That’s how vanity kind of is I feel like. I heard someone say that vanity attracts but personality keeps. Someone could be attracted to you, but if you have an ugly personality they are never going to want to start a life with you.

Insecurities girls have are absolutely gorgeous. Thick thighs are literally so cute and the same can be said for thin thighs. A lot of times it is genetic and it isn’t exactly something you can change in a day. Maybe it doesn’t need to change. Being healthy can come in all shapes and sizes, not just thin and curvy. Some girls are more insecure about their stomachs and chests. Having a little stomach is cute! Like what?!? It’s honestly one of the more adorable insecurities to have. We should be grateful we can be insecure about that, because in some parts of the world, they have sunken in stomachs and could only wish to have stomach rolls. Chests is one of the insecurities I have dealt with myself. But I think we should just tell society to shove it and live how we are without changing ourselves. Breasts are how we feed our children, and any size breast can do its job perfectly fine, if the baby is hungry I don’t think they are going to judge how big the breast is, they are just going to want to eat! Big or small your chest is amazing and you can even think of your breasts as being your closest friends!

Less bodily insecurities and more facial insecurities affect girls and women too. Acne, freckles, large foreheads and noses. Has society gotten so shallow that we are shaming women and girls for things they can’t easily and painlessly fix. Acne can sometimes be hormonal, and it does suck, but it isn’t something you can simply just fix. Freckles are GORGEOUS!! One of my closest friends used to hate her freckles and wanted to get them removed, but now she sees the beauty of them and loves them to death. Girls and women who have large foreheads often get made fun of whenever they wear a slickback, but wear that slickback proud girlie! Don’t care about what the world has to say about your forehead. Large noses isn’t something as commonly discussed as an insecurity, but it is also another insecurity that used to haunt me. I would get told my nose takes up half of my face and that it isn’t a beautiful trait. I was seriously considering plastic surgery. But then I realized, my nose serves its purpose, I can smell, and I shouldn’t have to change how it looks to please people who aren’t me.

Long story short, appreciate yourself. I said it girl! APPRECIATE your body and all of your insecurities, because without them, we would all be identical and boring!! Your body keeps you alive the least you could do to return the favor is to love and enjoy it.
