Well now, we've had Mother’s Day, we've had Father’s Day...but how about we celebrate their cohesiveness as a couple and as parents? I present to you...Parent's Day! Held on the fourth Sunday of July every year, Parents Day was originally introduced by Republican Senator Trent Lott to honour the work of parents in the United States in 1994.

But did you know Parents Day is different around the globe? In South Korea, Parents Day replaces Mothers Day on May 8th. In the Philippines, Mother's Day is traditionally celebrated on the first Monday of December. And in the Congo, it is celebrated on August 1st! India also celebrates Parents Worship Day on February 14th. While in Brazil, it is celebrated all the way on June 1st! Furthermore, the United Nations actually designated June 1st to be Parents Day!

Parents do so, so much work for their children and a very large portion of it is underappreciated. That's why Parents Day exists! So, children, next time Parents Day rolls around....treat your parents. They truly deserve it. Just a homemade card or even just doing the laundry will fill their hearts with love. So, before you yell, or get mad at, or stomp off, remember how much your parents do for you. They gave you life and made it as best as they could. Happy Parents Day!
