Elian Thorne was running with his friends through the Forbidden forest. He looks around at their laughing faces. Except for Rowan. His neat brown hair blowing in the wind and his observant hazel eyes looked back behind him worriedly. He was never excited to be breaking school rules. 

“Rowan, you don’t always have to be so cautious you know,” Elian’s friend Lyra shouted at him. She wasn’t known for being conventionally beautiful, but to Elian she was the most gorgeous witch he’d ever laid eyes on. She had bright blue eyes and a blonde pixie cut. Elian always had a sweet spot for her. After all, they had been together since their sorting into Gryffindor, and now they were almost finished with their seventh year.

“Lyra, at least I don’t serve detention every other day!” Rowan responded back.

“Rowan, relax! We only have a couple of months left and then we’re gone from this place,” Elian’s friend Cassius chimed in. Cassius was a Ravenclaw, but he was the biggest rule breaker Elian had ever met, well other than Lyra of course. 

“Guys we’re almost there,” Ivy Larkspur said. Our friend group had a special place in the forest we liked to hang out. It was a Hogsmeade weekend, so the whole school was mostly gone, except for the younger years and a couple of die hard school students. 

Elian’s friend group wasn’t very well liked by the teachers altogether, but separately they all had their ups and downs. Elian was a Gryffindor, and his house traits inherently made all of the teachers believe he was a headstrong, brave, and intelligent, although he felt like he wasn’t any of these traits. He was more independent and quiet. He was handsome but he wasn’t sought after by many of the girls in his year. He had black wavy hair, and green eyes flecked with gold that went very well with his tan complexion. He always thought of himself as average at best, but he had one unique part of him that he vowed never to show off; a crescent shaped birthmark on his shoulder. 

Rowan Fairchild was Elian’s best friend other than Lyra. He was a Hufflepuff, and he was very loyal and kind. But sometimes he was over-cautious. Very overcautious. Rowan was a stereotypical student, he had trimmed brown hair and hazel eyes, but he was built very athletically, which helped him land the position of Chaser on the Hufflepuff Quidditch Team. He is not-so-secretly scared of Quidditch though, and everyone always wonders how he managed to make the team. 

Cassius Hawke was the newest member of their group, he just joined in their sixth year. Everyone always wondered why he chose to join Elian’s group. Cassius was probably the most popular guy in their year, and their group..well wasn’t exactly popular. He was a Ravenclaw with jet black windswept hair and gray piercing eyes that suited his pale complexion. He was a talented musician, which the group knew was secretly his passion. All of the other people in their year only knew him by one thing though, being Captain and Seeker of the Ravenclaw Quidditch Team. 

Ivy Larkspur was Lyras's friend before she was Elian’s. Ivy, Lyra, and Elian were the start of the group. Ivy had a light brown complexion and soft black curls framing her face. She was a Slytherin, but she was arguably the most liked and nicest person in the group. She was also not scared to share what she thought. She told the whole group that she liked Rowan, and even Rowan was surprised by it, but they've decided to stay friends to keep the group together.

As they found their spot in the woods in silence, there was a sound of cracking twigs behind them. Rowan jumped. Elian and Lyra looked at eachother. They both knew the dangers of the woods, but the spot that they were always at was relatively safe and protected, so they wondered what it could be.
