Europe Day

Chapter 7

Every 9th of May is a special day for people living in Europe. I mean, it is Europe Day!

Europe Day is a celebration of peace and unity in Europe. It marks the anniversary of the historical Schuman Declaration, which proposed the creation of a European Coal and Steel Community, the forerunner to the modern European Union. On this day, Europeans come together to commemorate the values of cooperation, solidarity, and diversity at the heart of the European project. It's a time to reflect on the continent's rich history and look forward to a future of shared prosperity and harmony.

During this day, people in most European countries hoist the flag of Europe. Events can also be held and attended. In Brussels, the EU institution holds an open-door day and its employees are given off a day of work.

On this special day, we remind ourselves of the history and making of the European Union as we know it today. Happy Europe Day to everyone! Don't forget to celebrate with your friends and family!
