What's The Story This Month?

Chapter 18

INTRODUCTION:

Are you stuck at home sitting down with nothing to do? Come and visit my very own civilization called Chirplandia! Here is a clear explanation of the things you can do here, an invitation with the times you can come, and how many hours you are permitted to stay.

CROPS:

All around Chirplandia, we have got a wonderful plant called the Swist. I named it the Swist because of the sound the plant makes when the wind gushes through it. Growing in my amazing plantation, we have a type of amazing, sweet, and delicious berry that has the mixed flavour of strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and other tastes that I cannot describe.

SPORTS:

Right in the centre of my new and amazing civilization, Chirplandia, there is a place where you can learn an interesting type of sport. In this game, we have three scoring holes, a ball, and a bat. The game is won by scoring balls in the holes to gain points. The top hole gives 9 points, the left hole gives 6 points and the right hole gives 3 points. Come and see this amazing, but complicated, sport!

CLOTHES:

If you think your clothes are a bit uncomfortable, come and learn to sew better clothing. It comes with a hat and even some shoes but not the ones you buy in the shop, it’s the ones you buy in Chirplandia! On one of the clothes there is a joke that says, ‘Why do people call the girl pretty?’ The answer is… because it’s pretty obvious.

MUSIC:

If you want to learn some different types of music, we have instruments for all ages. Typically, ages four to nine play the piano, ages ten to sixteen play the violin, and seventeen to twenty-one play the drums. Don't worry, though-we have many more instruments for other ages. If you don’t feel like playing those instruments, I made a very big instrument which is the whole of Chirplandia where you just tap everything you can find but not any plants.

LANGUAGE:

Don’t get angry about my hard numbers!

You’re going to learn them with me. In my language, you don’t write 1, 2, and 3, you write &, ~, and § which is a different way of writing numbers. I have also got a 300-letter alphabet which took me a week to think about and write about at the same time, which is a long time. Come and write very short sentences with your names in them with my three-hundred-letter alphabet. First, you must remember those letters so they don’t come out of your head.

CONCLUSION:

Well, what do you think of my civilization called Chirplandia? It’s somewhere where you will get some more exciting things in your brain. What are you waiting for? When are you going to see my amazing plant, the Swist? Like I said, don't just sit down with nothing to do, let's go!
