- Ghosts are the essence of a person left behind after death
- They are weightless, transparent, and cannot affect the physical world
- Ghosts can become invisible and walking through them causes a chill
- Only magical people can become ghosts, they are not malevolent towards the living
- When interacting with ghosts, avoid bringing up their death and be courteous and appreciative
- Poltergeists are spirits of chaos, unlike friendly ghosts
- Poltergeists can interact with the physical world and cause chaos
- Signs of a poltergeist include unexplained noises, objects being thrown, strange smells, and physical attacks
- It is difficult to get rid of a poltergeist, leaving the area is the only way to temporarily end their presence
- In rare cases, poltergeists can be controlled by individuals in positions of authority or chaos
- Gytrashes are ghostly, large dogs that appear at night and can be vicious
- They blend into their surroundings and hunt in groups, making them dangerous
- The Hogwarts Forbidden Forest is known to have a pack of gytrashes
- Ghosts are usually friendly and won't attack, can be chased away with the Wand-Lighting Charm
- Gytrashes can be repelled by the light from a wand
