What's the story this month?

Chapter 12

Lucy had just woken up from her relaxing sleep. She went downstairs and tested her mum’s homemade strawberry jam. As Lucy went back to her room she heard a scratching, scrambling and crackling sound; Lucy knew this sound. She told her mum that there were wolves in the walls.

“If there are wolves, then it’s all over,” Mum told Lucy.

“What’s all over?” asked Lucy.

“It, you know,” replied Mum.

Lucy knew it was wolves so she went and told her dad and hoped that he would believe her.

“Dad, there are wolves in the walls!” screamed Lucy.

“If there are wolves in the walls, it’s all over so it must be some pesky rats.” Said Dad.

“What do you mean it’s all over?” Lucy asked, confused.

“The whole world will end and none of us will be alive,” replied Dad. Lucy walked away thinking about how to make her parents believe her so they would get ready for battle. Lucy had the idea of telling her brother, he’d always believed in those dangerous animals coming out of nowhere.

“There are wolves in the walls, brother and they're going to attack us.” Lucy exclaimed, hoping that her brother would believe her.

“If the wolves come out of the walls, it’s all over,” her brother repeated what their parents had said.

“Who says?” retorted Lucy.

“Mr Robinson, my teacher, we talk about wolves and things. “

"How does he know?” bravely replied Lucy.

“Everyone knows,” said her brother.

The next day, the whole family saw the walls crack and KABOOM! Wolves came out of the walls. Lucy's brother was running, her mum was holding a few jam pots as there was too much to carry, and her dad was holding his first best tuba that he would never leave. Together, they opened the door then locked it so the wolves could not come out. Everyone argued about what they had left behind. Mum: The rest of her jam pots. Dad: His second-best tuba. Brother: His favourite video game. Lucy: her precious pig puppet.

“We should go to the Arctic where there will be snow and whiteness all around us.” Dad told everyone.

“We should go to the Sahara Desert as there will only be sand and camels. Also, it is way too hot for those scary wolves,” said mum, overlapping dad's idea.

“Or we could sleep in a bat cave to be bitten and turn into vampires with sharp teeth, ready to catch humans!” Happily replied Lucy's brother.

“Or we could go home.” Lucy said, ignoring all the other’s ideas.

“WHAT!” everyone else shouted in a shocked voice. However, everyone thought for a moment; they all had in their minds that Lucy had a good idea of hiding in the walls and scaring them. So they all agreed.

A few minutes later they silently went inside their old house and crept into the walls. Lucy found four chair legs and kept one for herself, one for her brother, one for her mum and one for her dad, so as a team they could scare those horrible wolves away and have their cosy house back. They heard the TV on max volume exploding their ears and jam pots all over the floor. Dad had spotted his second best set tuba being played by the youngest wolf. Finally, Lucy had the whole family concentrated. They all went together and ATTACKED! The wolves worriedly sprinted down the creaky stairs and out the door, never to be seen again.

It took days and days until the whole house was cleared, but it was worth it. Lucy found her pig puppet and hugged her while thanking God as he gave her family all the courage that he made. The next few days, Lucy wondered how they got there and if there would be some kind of other animals in the walls. The whole family gave Lucy a big hug and at the same time said:

"Thank you, from now on, we will always trust you."

The END.
