Chapter 7

Sophie’s tent was dark green, and I didn’t think of colourful nature, but very dark death. My senses told me that nobody was inside, but it’s silly to trust them. However, I was right. Sophie, or somebody was in the toilet so I had some time to check. Of course I checked her bag first, it would be silly not to do that. At the bottom was her passport, and I was just about to open it until….

CRASH!!

There was a loud bang, and I could imagine things falling down from shelves. After all the noise stopped, all I could hear was silence. Forgetting all about the passport, I ran out back to my tent as quickly as possible. What happened? Did someone fall? I didn’t want to ask myself any more questions, all I wanted to do was sleep.

I slept quicker than ever, but I journeyed myself into a dream. There was a ‘BEEP!’, then a ‘BLOP!’, and for a second I thought I was with Aliens. There was a large, long, dark corridor where there was a ray of sunlight at the end. I’m sure you would run to the sunlight, which is what I did but it wasn’t very easy.

I heard whispers coming from all angles and I could feel someone touching me, even though there was nobody there. These ghosts (though I hoped there were no ghosts) said several things but I could only catch a few worse.

I could hear words that were to do with the case, but then there was a larger and louder voice that echoed in my ears. ‘You must not sleep, your suspect is in grave danger,’ the voice said. What did she mean? Still now, I always wonder if my dream was not a dream, but a vision. Then there was a big whirlpool, and my body started to get all curvy. Voices came to my head again, and it looked like the end of the dream. “Don’t sleep! Your suspect is dead! The case! You can never say who the maid is! You're too late!”

And all of a sudden, my eyes shot open. “A dream’s a dream. Just ignore it,” I thought to myself. Though, this dream was important, and I regret not listening to it. Willow was still asleep, and I was glad that she was not mentioned in my dream.

After all that happened that night, for the rest of the night I was asleep and no silly dreams came to disturb me. There is one thing that I learnt in this case: everything you experience is important in your life, even if it means you have to smell horse poo.

It was hard to sleep that night, I mostly only managed to close my eyes. I don’t think I will ever forget that dream. Then I felt a hand snatch my wrist, and I smelt a breath that reminded me of blood. Too scared to open my eyes, I tried to feel my surroundings. I was dragged across the floor, and the wood sent a deep cut through my stomach. As I tried to open my eyes, they were stuck together and the place that I was in, smelt of death and murder.

My eyes finally opened, and standing right in front of me was the murderer. A knife slowly rose, then it cut through me. “Aaah!” I screamed.

“Hazel, are you ok?” Willow moaned, trying to open her eyes. That’s when I realised it was just another dream, and I had to ignore it.            “Yep, I’m fine.” Even though my heart was still pounding and my fingers trembling, I could still make out a smile.

Why was I having all these dreams? Was this the answer? Am I the victim? I didn’t have any answers, nor did I feel that Sophie was the murderer. Because the person who was in front of me, was not Sophie; it was a man. What if I was wrong, though? I thought to myself: no, this is going to be ok. We will catch Sophie, then me and Willow will be safe.

At last, I fell asleep. No more dreams came in my way; everything was perfect. Tomorrow would be the last day to face any nightmares. “Mmmm,” moaned Willow. In a blink of an eye, I woke up again to see Willow groaning, twisting and turning. Was she having the dreams? Again, I tried to ignore it even though it was a very annoying sound. Why would Willow do anything bad; we’re the detective society.
