The Outer Banks, Paradise on Earth. It's really the sort of place where you either have two jobs or two houses. Two tribes, one island.

Alright, on one side lies Figure Eight, the rich side of the island, home of the kooks. So, guess where i dont live....well where I wish I didn't live.

Anyways, on the other side is the south side or the cut. Home of the working class who make a living busing tables, washing yachts, and running charters. The natural habitat of... drumroll please...the Pogues. That's us. Let me introduce you to some of my friends:

There's JJ, my best friend and partner in crime since the third grade. He's about as local as they come. Latest in a long line of fishing, smuggling, vendetta-holding salt-lifers who made their living off the water. Best surfer, I know....just don't tell him I said that. Mild kleptomaniac and a future tax cheat.

Oh, and there's Kiara or Kie, as we call her. We're inseparable like a sister bond. We were in a trio a while back, but that broke up, only good thing is we stuck together. Anyways, when shes not saving turtles, listening to Marley, or getting a dolphin tattoo, she hangs out with us. She's a rich kid.... like me. Foot in both worlds. Her family owns The Wreck, a small restaurant. Total cash cow with the tourists.

Pope, brains of the operation and the kindest person you'll ever meet..finalist for the Lucas T. Vanderhorst Merit Scholarship. And the smartest person I know. He's a bit of a weirdo though. But yet again, aren't we all. He helps me with my math homework because god knows I need it.

Can't forget John B. He's the whole reason I'm a part of this group. I've known him since middle school. His dad disappeared at sea nine months ago, looking for a shipwreck. Who disappears at sea these days? He lives in an old fish shack on the marsh or the château as we call it. John B doesn't know I know that he's crushing on my enemy Sarah.

Sarah Cameron, who happens to be my former best friend. Remember that trio me and kie were in? Well, it was me, kie, and Sarah. Sarah is also a rich kid...no not just a rich kid she's also a drama queen and attention seeker. Oh and a bitch. Her very unpleasant boyfriend complents her perfectly.

Oh and I should probably say this, Sarahs oh so pleasant boyfriends name is Topper Thornton.....Topper also just happens to be my brother... We were close when we were kids, but as we got older we grew apart. Our parents don't really care about us, especially our mom.

That's where Rafe comes in. Rafe, my boyfriend. He also happens to be Sarah's older brother, so we're both dating each others brother. He's a drug addict. I've tried to convince him to get clean but he wont listen. We've been together for a year

And then there's me Sydney a rich girl that hates being rich. I've been hanging out with the pouges for about a year and a half now. I know that John B and JJ question why a girl like me would want to hang out with them. The truth is ive never felt more comfortable with people like I do them. But there is the problem of Rafe and Topper hating the pouges. I honestly can't see why , all i know is that if either of them found out god knows what would happen.

So thats where our story starts. My toxic relationship with my brother, my drug addict boyfriend, my hatred for Sarah, and my secret life with the pouges. Sounds exciting right? Ya that's because it is.
