World Book Day

Chapter 5

I absolutely love World Book Day; it’s one of the best times of the year!! I’m also wondering what you dressed up as, so I’ve made a little something for you. If you would like to share your costume with us, enter this form! It’s not compulsory; don’t worry:

For those who are wondering what World Book Day is, keep your eyes on this page because I am going to explain everything. Let’s start, shall we?

During World Book Day, children and adults are allowed to dress up as a character from one of their favourite books! You could be Matilda, Hermione Granger herself, or even Ariel. So, it’s not just all about reading the characters in the book, but being able to dress like one and act like one for a whole day.

But what is the point of World Book Day?

There are so many reasons; I don’t think I can explain them all, but I will give you a little summary. Overall, it’s for everyone to have a magical world for themselves, where they can explore all sorts of things. I’m sure many of you love watching films, and that’s amazing. However, with books, you can create a world for yourself. The authors describe it, and you try to imagine what you think the scene would look like. When you're watching TV, they do it for you, and it’s no fun.

Did you not dress up this year because you literally had no idea? Don’t worry, I have a few costumes in mind that you can try out for next year:

Peter Rabbit
Miss Trunchbull
The BFG
Mary Poppins
Willy Wonka
Matilda
Little Red Riding Hood, and much more...

Don’t worry, you still have so many chances to experience this wonderful and colourful day. Ah, now some of you may have gotten a £1 book token. “What is this?” you ask yourself. Head to any bookshop right now, and you can use this token to buy your own book—how fantastic is that? In a few years, I promise that you will still keep this book safe in your hands. If you don’t know what the book token looks like, here is one just for you:
