Third Person POV

It was a party for The Order Of The Phoenix, Dumbledore himself had planned out most of it and had made the invites for everyone who is in the order or has helped them in the past. Everyone had some kind of costume on whether it was a plain and simple cat costume or a full-on special effects makeover, Tonks however just had to change her face and she was ready to go. Among the groups of people was Severus Snape who didn't bother dressing up and went in his normal clothes and then there was Y/N dressed up as a black cat, not your normal cat costume, but with rather actual claws that she could extend at a mere thought and had her long brown hair laying down on her shoulders. The party was taking place at her Aunt's house which she needed to get up when she died and the building was also an old place for the family of Ravenclaw to live in. As Dumbledore chatted with everyone in his field of view Severus was making his way around the crowds of people and either nodding or saying hello back to those who noticed him.

As he passed Molly and Arthur Weasley Molly said,

"Well hello, Severus! I didn't think I'd see you here tonight."

"Well at first I wasn't planning on coming, but Albus said it would be best for me to tag along, I say otherwise."

"Oh come on Severus, don't you think you could use some time away and out of the school for a change?" Arthur said trying to be a part of the conversation, but Severus wasn't listening because he frankly didn't care any kind of petty about his way of living.

"Come on Arthur, you know you can't make this stubborn man change his ways," Yousaid bumping Severus' shoulder as a sign that she was messing with him. Arthur and Molly slowly joined into a conversation just to the left of them to try not to make things awkward. Severus looked at her and raised an eyebrow trying to understand why she didn't hate him.

"Why do you still like me?" You almost felt like slapping him right across his face.

"I have no idea what you're talking about." She crossed her arms and looked at what was in front of her, not bothering to look at Snape.

"I almost got you killed last week, what do you mean you have no idea what I'm talking about."

"Sev, listen. I don't hate you and I never will, I know that you have a soft side and I've been working on finding it since we met. I don't care that you almost got me killed, people make mistakes and I wasn't killed so you don't need to worry about it." Nearing the end she looked over at him and saw that his face was still in denial and rolled her eyes at him.

"Hey, that costume is convincing. You might terrify a few too many guests tonight." She smiled at her comment as Severus just frowned and walked the other way. Y/N was chasing after him because she knew that he was only doing it to tease her. They had been good friends for about a year now and she didn't plan on leaving him any time soon. As she moved through the crowds of people she ended up losing sight of him because many people wanted to talk to her about the party and how nice the Ravenclaw house was. She wasn't listening and quickly left them once she had answered their questions or had finished saying thank you, but Snape had just gotten out of her sight. She blew a stray hair out of her face and went to the main stairs to the ballroom which was higher than the floor itself. Once she got to the top of the stairs she scanned the area looking for a darkly dressed tall man, but it was harder to find him than she had originally thought since half the people in the room were wearing black and most people didn't look like themselves. After a few minutes of looking for Severus, she gave up and walked over to the back ballroom where I had recently put in a bar. I walked up to it and asked the bartender for two shots of whiskey.

"Maybe this will make the party more fun." She downed them like they were nothing and turned around to see if anything interesting was going on. Y/N wasn't the type for parties and she wasn't one to talk to many people so having all these people over at her place kind of bored her out. After a few hours, she ended up sitting on a couch outside of the party and she had a cocktail in her hand hoping to find this party coming to an end soon. She was also getting a tad worried about Severus since he had disappeared three hours ago, she didn't know if he had gotten lost touring the house if he had left, which she would be pretty upset about since he didn't give the party a chance and the last possibly he had gotten hurt and wasn't safe. She was extra worried about that one since she knew that he was a double agent for Dumbledore that Voldemort would want him to report back to him at some point about the party and that there might be someone here spying on The Order trying to get information about what was going to happen next and that they might have targeted Severus for help and he wasn't ready for it and didn't know what to do.

As Youslid further into the couch trying to hide from passing people she slowly sipped from her drink and was thinking about ending the party two hours early, but she knew it would be hard since Dumbledore would ask everyone to stay. Still, nothing had happened in half an hour and You were having enough of people saying how they liked the party and decided to focus on finding Severus. She had asked about five people in the back area, but nobody had seen him. She asked Molly and Arthur but they never saw him after the last time they had talked. Sirius, on the other hand, wasn't a help since he was drunk and being cocky and all that stuff. After ten minutes of asking around if anyone had seen Severus, she noticed that her drink was empty and went to get a rum and cola. As Eddie, the bartender was getting her drink ready, she had an idea.

Y/N's POV

Severus drinks all the time and being here would make him want to drink to forget the party for the next day, If he's still here Eddie would know.

"Hey Eddie, have you seen Severus anywhere? I haven't been able to find him."

"Umm, I saw him about five minutes ago, head to the stairs, maybe check outside, he's had a good amount of fire whiskey tonight, maybe he's not feeling well."

"Thanks, Ed." I instantly went to the staircase and made my way to the main door and on the way, I looked in all the rooms heading up to the door hoping to find him. Not to my surprise, I was at the door without Severus, his being outside would be my last chance to see him for a while since the Ministry was sending me to go to America and stay there for five months. At this point, I was getting a bit worried and upset that if I didn't see him I wouldn't be able to tell him something important. I had never really thought about what Severus and I were until this party which made me only think about him the whole time. I had realized that over the year my feelings for Severus were getting stronger than I thought they would and the fact that I wouldn't be able to see him for five months or that while I was gone something could happen to him made me overly anxious.

I have to tell him, and now.

I went outside and looked at the main entrance and wasn't surprised to not find him there since it was right outside the front door, but he could've just gone down one of the garden paths that only went to the backyard. As I quickly made my way around the house, drink in hand, my heart was starting to beat faster because this was the only other place he could be if he hadn't left. As I rounded the last corner I stopped in my tracks, this might be the last time I talk to Severus. He will either accept my feelings and while I'm away something might happen to him or he will throw me away like junk standing in the way he needs to go. I took a deep breath in and prepared myself for the worst, but hoped for the best.

Sev's POV

I can't believe she's leaving in the morning to the States for five months. What will I do without her?

I was outside just trying to get my thoughts into place and to stop them from running wild about Y/N, even when I'm drunk my mind only wants her. I sign into my glass of whiskey that's been empty for five minutes after I decided to down it in one drink trying to calm myself down and not to get angry over her. I just need a break from her and maybe things will go back to when we were just friends and back to when I didn't have any feelings for her.

"I just hope she understands what I'm feeling," I say looking up into the night sky.

Y/N's POV

Once I got myself together and prepared for whatever might happen, I walked around the corner and saw someone standing at the desk that overlooks the nearby creek. I gave out a small sigh of relief since Sev was still here and I slowly made my way over to him. I was quiet at first, trying not to disturb him, but I soon realized that it might not be the best idea to sneak up on him and then give him a scare. He might pull out his wand and cast a spell to hurt me and we both don't need that. As I got closer I didn't try to hide my footsteps by walking slowly just so he knew that someone was coming whether it was me or not. As I get closer I calm myself down because I know that this might go bad and I try not to think about it. I finally got the strength to say something to him to let him know that it was me walking up to him.

"Party too energetic for you?" I ask him and he turns his head to his left to see me, but very quickly continues to look forward.

"I could ask you the same thing. I thought you were the type of person who likes to party."

"Well, I wasn't planning on having 90 people over at my house and most of them being old like Dumbledore getting drunk and singing Christmas carols." He chuckles in response.

At least I got him to laugh, kinda.

We both look out into the night sky and I start to wonder what he might be thinking about. Is it me who's on his mind? Or is it something else that he doesn't want to talk about? As we both stand there looking at the nature around us from time to time I take a sip out of my drink and notice that he doesn't have any left in his glass.

"Hey," Severus looks over to me,

"Do you want some?" He looked down at my drink and raised an eyebrow.

"That looks like the most sugary drink in history." He continues to glance at my drink and not at my face.

"Okay, I guess I'll take that as a no then." Soon enough we are both silent and neither one of us seems to want to talk nor has anything to say at the moment to each other. I finally feel the need to say something to Severus about what I'm feeling for him and make sure that he's okay with it and try not to make it awkward.

"Sev, I need t-"

"Y/N, can we-"

We both ended up trying to talk at the same time and I stopped first because I was being polite, but of course, Severus had to say,

"I'm sorry you go first,"

"No it wasn't that important, go ahead."

"Are you sure? I feel like it was important."

"No no, it's fine. It can wait." Severus' face calmed down for a second and then he looked back up at the night sky admiring the stars that lined it like a sheet of paper.

"I need to tell you something and I hope it doesn't push you away from me." I place my hand on his forearm, the one with his dark mark. He looks down at my hand but soon looks away from it.

"You don't need to worry Sev, I would never leave your side after everything we've been through." He looks me right in the eye and smiles, for the first time in months I saw him smile. The other time was when I had completely messed up a potion that I was making for Dumbledore and it had knocked me off my feet and I had red potion all over myself and the floor. Side note, he made me clean it up, without magic.

"I just don't know if you're ready to hear it and if I'm ready to say it to your face." He was getting pretty worried at this point I could tell just by the way his voice went up an octave. I put my glass down and put my hands around his shoulders to make him look at me.

"I may not be ready to hear it, but if it means this much to you that you aren't willing to look at me while you talk, I need to know. I care for you Severus, I always have and I always will." His face softened to my words and he opened his mouth like he was going to say something, but then chose not to. I responded to this by saying,

"Severus Snape," His eyes shot open to me calling him by his first and last name together.

"If you need to tell me something I need to know before it's too late." At that point, he remembered that I was leaving right in the morning before anybody would be awake. He brought his eyes up to mine and I could feel his breath on his face. This made me realize how close I pulled him into me and I nearly started to panic, but I didn't let it show since I needed to see how this was going to go down. He took my hands off his shoulders and slowly let them rest by my side and said,

"Can I just try something?" I raised an eyebrow confused.

"I just... I need to check if it's true." This made me even more confused.

What does he mean by "Can I just try something"?

Severus slowly moved closer to Y/N as she was all caught up in her head thinking about what his words meant.

I don't understand what he's trying to ask me

Severus grabs her one forearm with his hand and pulls her a tad closer to him.

What does he mean by "I need to check if it's true"? Couldn't he just tell me what it was

At this point, Severus and Y/N were so close that he was surprised that she wasn't saying anything and knew that she was lost in her thoughts and not paying attention to what was happening.

"Y/N?" I was brought out of my thoughts. I then noticed how close he was to me, at this point, I could see the rings of colour in his dark eyes, they were shining because of the night sky.

"I just want to make sure that I'm right on this."

Sev's POV

At this point, I was so close to her and she wasn't reacting, and that's when I pulled her out of her thoughts to show her what feelings I have for her. I wrapped my arms around her waist pulled her into my body and connected our lips. She gasped at what I had done, but I kissed her passionately to let her know that what was happening was real and that I cared for her.

Third Person POV

As Severus wrapped his arms tightly around Y/N her eyes shot open wide once she felt his lips on hers and how passionately he was kissing her. Y/N soon gave in and wrapped her arms around his neck to pull him closer and deepen the kiss as much as possible. She then felt his arms tighten around her waist to keep her in place so then she didn't try to run away from him. This could've ruined their relationship with each other, but doing this just made it stronger.

Sev's POV

As I pulled away I saw that she was already smiling which, for the first time in a long time, made me actually, genuinely smile. Her face was shining by the light of the stars and her breath was like a mix between a sweet strawberry and mint. I let go of her, but she didn't like that idea and wrapped her arms around my torso saying,

"I will never let you go."
