Ladies Wizarding World Fashion

Chapter 22

-Ladies Wizarding World Fashion-

This Month's New Look:

This issue’s fashion focus is centred around stylish adventure, with casual yet elegant clothes great for outdoor wear. Whilst tough and durable, these clothes are also light and airy, making sure you don’t overheat as we start to move into the summer months!

This scruffy yet elegant look has been soaring in popularity recently, and the muggle trend of ripped jeans is really catching on, especially in dull colours like khaki, grey and black.

The casual look of this off-shoulder red hoodie combined with the khaki print trousers and brown combat boots really encompass what this month’s fashion focus is about; refined but robust.

This is one of the more stylish of the looks this month, although the denim jacket is certainly an item we haven’t seen in a long time. Cross-body bags are also becoming extremely popular for those summer outings to carry all your essentials; we all know how much a handbag can wear out your arm!

Women's Fashion Story of the Month

Seraphina Wade, renowned stylist and fashion journalist, has recently opened her first store; “Made in the Shade” in Diagon Alley, where she is selling her own range of designer sunglasses. In her products, she has included all the latest charms to make sure that you don’t damage your eyes in the summer sun, nor do you get those embarrassing tan lines around your eyes where your sunglasses have been! Speaking to Wade at the opening of her store, she happily laughed and said;

“I really cannot believe it! Ever since I could walk I’ve wanted to open my own fashion store, and here I am! I am honestly so elated.”

After a wonderful walk around the store - definitely not without trying on an awful lot of sunglasses and even purchasing a pair of my own - I couldn’t leave without enquiring about the name of the store. It is a reference which many a muggleborn such as myself will understand; taken from the name of the first official compilation album by the Rolling Stones, an incredibly popular muggle rock band from the 1960s. With a smile, Wade told me;

“Ah, the name; everyone asks about the name. I like to think of it as my way of making it known that all those who interact with the muggle world are welcome in my store. I mean, it’s definitely not a done thing these days to only allow purebloods into stores, but the prejudice still hasn’t completely gone away. Speaking as someone who was raised by muggles, I know what it’s like. I want all those with connections to the muggle world to have something that only they understand for once, if you get what I’m saying.”

So a wonderful store, with a name with a beautiful symbolism. For any of you needing to purchase a new pair of stylish, yet practical sunglasses, I would definitely recommend Made in the Shade!
