Chapter 4

I was in my bed nice and early whereas Willow was wide awake searching every corner of the house. For a second, I didn’t know what she was doing but now I do. It’s a crime, what else could it be? Her looking for some pink, shiny earrings, as if! Her steps were loud but then also silent at the same time. Two hours later, at ten o’clock she came to my room, sinked into the bed and before you knew it she was in her deep, deep sleep.

It’s 1 O’clock in the morning, and I hear something. Some steps travelling nearer to Noah’s room, Willow’s Uncle, I don’t know what to do. I tuck my knees in, staying tight before anything bad happens to me.

ahhhh-hhaaaaaa,” I yawned, forgetting all about last night.

All of a sudden there is a scream, “AAAAAAAH,” it came from Emily. In a blink of an eye, Willow and I got up and headed straight to where it was coming from.

I stood there, gasping with horror. Willow was now smiling but then crying at the same time. Her Uncle was murdered. Then, I saw Agatha Harris. She ran up to us, crying on my shoulder. She didn't dare to look.

Who would do this????

“Jade, come here. We have to talk,”

I took a look at the body and headed to Willow, “What is it? Father won’t let us solve this murder. Maybe this murder isn’t for us. Why don’t leave it to the real detectives this time,”I myself, struggling to say that.

“As president of the detective society, I force you to solve this puzzle with me. Please Jade, your father doesn’t have to know. It’s always, father says this, and father says that for you. Just pretend for once. Don’t be like a pretty obedient puppy, that your father has control over. Break the rules!!” she begged.

I sighed,”Ok, but we have got to be careful. If father finds out, I’m going to be a dead, obedient puppy. And, I won’t be pretty anymore. Something to say, the murder happened at around 1 in the morning. I heard some steps heading to Noah’s room.

“Then, why didn’t you go to see who it was,” she grunted

“Because I was scared,” I moaned. Then she started talking about how a detective shouldn’t be scared and all that. She was making a Willowish sort of speech. It’s just her, bragging about how brave she is, how good she is at acting and all of the nonsense she could think of. However, I did agree that she was a great actor.

“Oh yeah, by the way. You're still wearing a dress. Are you sure you're not going to get married? Or, maybe you're allergic to trousers like how my cousin is allergic to dresses,” she snickered. I rolled my eyes, and stood there. I had nothing else to do.

Willow revealed a smirk on her face saying we are now detectives. I smiled back, and we walked back to my room. Agatha joined us, then asked if we knew who did it.

“It was obviously you,” said Willow, sarcastically.

Agatha had wide eyes for a second and she was normal again, “Me, nooo! I would never do anything like that. I feel terribly sorry for your loss Willow. Or were you just being sarcastic?”

“Yeah, of course she is,” I stated, stepping on Willow's foot. Willow nodded, and smiled.

Willow is thinking of Agatha being a murderer, but how? She is such a scaredy cat. Crying for everything. But then again, it might just be the best disguise.

It was late in the morning, Willow, I and Agatha heard policemen barging in. Again, Agatha started crying, but if I were to be honest, her crying sounds like some beautiful singing.

We all ran down the stairs and Noah’s body was being removed. It was only until now that I realised, on the morning when we found him dead. No blood, no nothing. He must have been strangled in some way, or poisoned. It was time to investigate.
