The festive season is still on, and memories of the Yule Ball still haunt us. But we also have our eyes on a very special gift - a brand new year full of surprises, anticipations, and goals. Moving on is a very important skill to master; embracing new beginnings and leaving the past behind is essential to keeping the cycle of life going. On that note, let's step into the New Year, 2024, with a fresh, new perspective, a calm mind, and a cheery heart. Happy New Year!

House Points and the Monthly House Point Competition

Have you recently checked the hourglasses?
If not, do it now.
Are you a roaring Gryffindor full of bravery and courage who never gives up?
Or are you a Ravenclaw, a house that soars high through creativity and intelligence?
Though you might be a Slytherin, where ambitious, cunning witches and wizards belong.
On the other hand, you could be in Hufflepuff, chosen to be there for your loyalty and kindness.
However, all these houses have shown importance throughout the history of Hogwarts, and the house that you get picked to be in is the house where you will forever belong. We all work hard for house points, and no matter how many you manage to get—a pinch or plenty—you still did something to get them.
Now let’s see who has been working really hard. Did you know that if you join the monthly house point competition among the best students, hosted by Professor Robert Plumb, you can win bronze, silver, and gold medals? It is held every month in the 'House Point Competition Group' at https://www.hogwartsishere.com/groups/13729/.
Remember, you may only join if you have at least 30 house points. To earn house points, you complete the assignments that accompany your lessons.
It’s your time to shine. Though, who are the winners this month?
There were 6 entrants this month, out of whom only 4 qualified by collecting more than the bare minimum of 30 house points.
Martha Desurra, a 2nd-year Ravenclaw student, took the first position with 598 house points. Chaos, a 2nd-year Slytherin student, snatched the second position by earning 168 house points. The third position went to Evony Senoj, a 2nd-year Slytherin student, who earned 49 house points. Evony is also an Astronomy, Transfiguration, and Charms Professor Assistant, while Chaos is an Astronomy and Herbology Professor Assistant at Hogwarts. Professor Plumb calculated the total number of house points earned by each participant throughout the month, and he has also put up the corresponding medals on their walls. Congratulations to the winners!
Now remember, you do have to study hard to get those house points if you want a medal. Start working now.
