Blair Witch Project:

Year 2014, Burkittsville, Maryland

Six kids had entered the forest. Four of them were found dead, and two of them went missing. After a meticulous investigation, it turned out that one of the missing kids, James Donahue, was looking for his missing sister.

Late 1940

A man named Rustin Parr was arrested by the police and admitted that he was participating in child abduction and murder. He claimed that he did not do such things by will and was forced to do so by an old lady in black. After finding seven bodies buried in his cellars, he was convicted and executed in 1941.

Year 1886

An eight-year-old girl named Robin Weaver went missing in the forests around the Blair region. Authorities were informed by her grandmother and gathered a search party to find her. Unfortunately, none of them returned alive. Surprisingly, Robin was found in the following days, claiming that she was enchanted and abducted by an old woman levitating above the ground.

Year 1825

During a wheat harvesting ceremony, a ten-year-old child, Eileen Treacle, was drowned in the shallow waters. Eleven eyewitnesses claim that they saw a white, ghostly hand pulling her into the water.

Similarities among all of these cases brought attention to both Muggles and magical people. Muggle residents of the Burktsville region attribute such events to an evil force known as the Blair witch. These incidents were also the inspiration behind a lot of Muggle books and movies, like "The Blair Witch Project.".

However, this story was more suspicious for magical folks. Finally, MACUSA came into the action and investigated the Blair witch's story.

Their first theory was that Blair was simply a dark witch wandering in the woods. However, the timeline of these events indicated that neither a wizard nor a witch could last that long or practice such dark arts. 

Their second theory was that there was an anti-Muggle cult consisting of dark witches and wizards that had something to do with such activities.

Their third theory was that Blair witch was a beast, probably a hag who fed on children's blood. However, this theory was irrelevant since there were gaps between these events.

Ultimately, after a comprehensive investigation conducted by MACUSA, it turned out that the reason behind these events was simply dark arts performed by a deceased witch named Elly Kedward, who used to live in the Blair area in the 1700s.

Elizabeth Abigail Kedward was born in 1729 and used to live in the Blair Forest. In February 1785, several children accused her of luring them into the woods to draw their blood. She was found guilty and banished from her village. Some rumors say that she was dragged into the jungle and tied to a tree. It is possible that during this period of time, she cursed the Muggles of the village with dark spells.

Following this, MACUSA cast some protective charms to prevent Muggles from wandering around in the cursed area.
