The Forest

Chapter 2

It was the dead of night and Matthew was ready to go. He had a flashlight, some food and water. He climbed out the window and went straight to the forest. In the distance, he could hear a cackle echoing the woodlands like a drone. He couldn’t stand it so he started to run. The walnut tree branches, filled with emerald green leaves, danced in the wind like dancers on stage. The horrible mud started to stick to his feet as the clouds started crying heavily down onto his head and on the ground. The shadowy fog covered the scene like a ghostly gallon and, as quick as a flash, lightning struck. “I can’t take it anymore!” Matt yelled. Then, after that, he ran and ran and ran until he reached the statue.
