Then, maybe, Arithmancy is the subject for you. It is a perfect blend of Mathematics and Divination for the numerically inclined Diviners out there. Arithmancy is a branch of Divination that assigns numerical values to words and makes use of numbers to divine. Hogwarts has not had an Arithmancy course for some time. As the Dark Arts have evolved over the years, so has Defense Against the Dark Arts transformed to give a fitting reply. Defense Against the Dark Arts is the favorite subject of many students at Hogwarts, but it is also an essential skill for resilience in the future. This core subject is taught to all students from their first to seventh year at Hogwarts by the skilled ex-Auror, Professor Jericho Penrose. This month, Professor Penrose was joined by a new co-Professor hailing from China, Professor Daiyu Yee Kwan. She is a spirited and highly proficient witch who graduated from the Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. As no surprise, owing to her brave and daring nature, Professor Kwan was in the Wampus house during her time at Ilvermorny and was placed into its counterpart, Gryffindor, by the Sorting Hat on her arrival at Hogwarts.
