Stepping out the door, feeling the breeze swishing across my face, I headed to the antique store to buy my last tools then I could look for Isla. I thought the antique shop would feel good but I was wrong, it was the most horrible place anyone could ever stay in. No one was in the shop, the counter was empty, filled with dust and bits of paper. “Morning, what you lookin’ for? There’s clocks, books, jewellery and everything you could think of, there ent much ‘ere anymore but me sure you find something,” a man said peeking out behind a bookshelf.   “I’m alright thankyou, are you wearing dog ears?” I asked fixing my eyes on his ears. My heart skipped a beat when he said no, he obviously is, right? No one is born with dog ears. The man touched the top of his head (where the dog ears were) then ran out back behind the bookshelf again. 

I scanned my eyes around the store hoping to find something useful but instead I saw someone. Someone familiar, someone I knew, someone whom I loved, someone who was known to be dead. Her face was light pink and she had brown freckles. As she turned around I found a stripy pink and white tail. Just like the man, she had ears but a cat. Once she took a look at me, she sprinted off into the darkness. I ignored my thoughts and carried on looking for supplies.

I bought a compass, a notebook and a lighter.  Just in case I have to  go through the land of death.  I paid and took a quick last smell of the store just before I got some food from the supermarket. I was gonna miss this place, all the mysteries behind it put a smile on my face.

I bought all the food I could for the journey ahead of me. I was ready to begin.
